Job Title: Project Manager - Geotechnical Construction
Job Description
The Project Manager will lead multiple geotechnical construction projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role suits a proactive and detail-oriented professional who excels at driving project progress while building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams across commercial, private, and public sector work.
Responsibilities
Manage multiple geotechnical construction projects simultaneously, including commercial, private, and public sector projects.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear communication, regular updates, and consistent follow-up.
Coordinate closely with superintendents and foremen to address daily field operations and resolve issues proactively.
Oversee subcontractor coordination, performance, and compliance with project requirements and standards.
Lead project buyouts and manage procurement processes to secure materials and services efficiently.
Monitor project budgets, implement cost controls, and track overall financial performance of each project.
Review and approve project-related expenses in alignment with budget and company policies.
Collaborate with in-house engineers and estimators throughout the project lifecycle, from planning through closeout.
Conduct regular site visits throughout South Florida to ensure alignment with project plans and address real-time challenges.
Participate in contract negotiation and administration to support favorable and compliant agreements.
Ensure all projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards at all times.
Utilize project management and construction software, including Microsoft Project, Procore, AutoCAD, Revit, and internal proprietary tools, to plan, track, and report on project progress.
Essential Skills
3-5 years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably in geotechnical or heavy civil construction, or large commercial construction project experience.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Proven project management experience in geotechnical, heavy civil, or large commercial construction environments.
Hands-on experience with construction management and project coordination.
Technical understanding of geotechnical systems such as piles, grouted tiebacks, soil nails, sheet piles, auger cast piles, and chemical grouting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Project for scheduling and project planning.
Proficiency with Procore for construction project management and documentation.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for reviewing and working with design drawings and models.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and coordinate diverse project teams.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with a focus on detail and follow-through.
Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues, solve problems, and drive project progress.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional credentials such as PMP (Project Management Professional) are a plus.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Experience working with public agencies such as FDOT, USACE, and SFWMD is highly desirable.
Bilingual communication skills are highly preferred.
Experience working with Department of Defense-related projects, including Navy projects, is beneficial.
Experience in engineering or construction management is advantageous.
Comfort working with internal proprietary software and adapting to new digital tools.
Interest in long-term career growth within the geotechnical construction sector.
Work Environment
The role offers a balanced mix of office and field work, with approximately 70% of the time spent in the office and 30% in the field. Standard hours are typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Project Manager will visit active construction sites throughout South Florida, collaborating closely with field teams and observing ongoing operations. Office work involves extensive use of project management and design software, including Microsoft Project, Procore, AutoCAD, Revit, and internal proprietary systems. The work environment supports professional growth through exposure to a wide variety of high-profile projects, including work with public agencies such as the US Army Corps of Engineers, South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Transportation, and Department of Defense. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $62.50/hr.
