Summary You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Directorate of Operational Technology and Cyber Innovation in NCIS. All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status. Responsibilities You will participate in the analysis and investigation, regarding computer crimes and forensic data recover matters. You will plan and coordinate all aspects of digital forensics evidence seizure, acquisition, examination, storage, preservation, analysis, and reporting. You will make recommendations on implementing and modifying current IT systems and policies. You will implement software and hardware solutions developed or acquired by NCIS Cyber Department in support of operations and investigations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12 I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Experience demonstrating this competency include identifying and following detailed, established processes to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Solutions to problems are thoroughly documented and made available to others to resolve similar issues. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available services; is committed to providing quality products and services. In addition, works closely with other units within the organization to identify and accomplish mutual objectives. 3. Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. This includes working in a collaborative and professional manner. Includes the ability to clearly explain complex technical issues in a manner understandable to non-technical personnel. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Works individually or with a team to generate and implement possible solutions. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: evaluating, implementing, and disseminating digital and multimedia forensics tools and procedures; collecting, analyzing and presenting computer-related evidence in support of cyber incident; AND providing technical assistance on digital evidence matters to appropriate personnel. GS-11 I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1.
