Summary You will serve as an AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the COATING & SERVICES GROUP (099), PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT, CODE 900 of PSNS and IMF. Responsibilities You will install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment and related devices or components. You will complete simpler installation, maintenance, testing and repair projects by independently following oral instructions, schematics, blueprints, and work orders. You will make visual, audible and mechanical checks for proper temperature of spaces, unusual noises, loose connections, gaskets and similar defects. You will inspect individual parts, assemblies, or installations, using test and measuring instruments of the trade. You will start up equipment, and makes adjustments as required to ensure proper operation of systems in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions or specific instructions provided by the supervisor or a senior mechanic. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met. Position may require work aboard ships. Position may require climbing on ladders or scaffolding. Position requires the ability to lift 60 pounds.
