The opportunity

Delaware North Gaming is hiring a full-time Lure Operator to join our team at Wheeling Island Casino in Wheeling, West Virginia. As a Lure Operator, you will be responsible for operating the mechanical lure effectively for each official race, ensuring a consistent and safe distance is used between the lure and the greyhounds. What will you do?

Follow all rules of racing and applicable racing policies

Maintain the condition of the rheostat and other mechanical devices used in lure operation, ensuring proper maintenance of the mechanical lure system, rail, and associated parts

Conduct morning schooling sessions as required, and inspect the lure rail before each performance to ensure no objects obstruct the lure motor

Report any mechanical problems with the lure system, and retrieve paperwork from the racing office for the judges

Perform as a team member and assist fellow team members to ensure smooth operation

More about you

Greyhound racing experience is preferred but not required

No experience or degree required

Physical requirements

Ability to lift 50-100 pounds to assist in changing lure motor when needed
