Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The position will be based at our facility in Sumter, SC. We are offering relocation assistance for candidates who reside within the U.S. Sponsorship support is available too.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

The Mechanical Engineer (Switchboards) is responsible for engineering customer orders including detailed review of layout and application of equipment, wiring and component selection, component layout and modeling using 3D cad software, and supports various phases of order management from initial engineering review thru production shipment.

In this function you will:

Verify that complete and accurate order entry information has been received for incoming switchboard orders. Prepare Manufacturing Information (MI) for switchboards, utilizing Bid Manager, AutoCAD, and Plant Order Manager. Identify and design special fabricated parts required using ACAD and 3-D modeling systems (Auto-Desk Inventor, etc.), ensuring that MI's are completed and the material is routed accordingly to the appropriate assembly team. Interface with customers, channel partners, Field-Sales, and EatonCare through participation in plant visits, training support and customer events. Provide input to Product Line development teams on design and pick table enhancements. Support and assist assembly teams in resolution of process and/or information quality problems. Support Satellite Plants thru design review and product implementation.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Engineering from an accredited institution with a graduation date in May 2026.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with MRP/ERP Systems

Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

Experience with Autodesk (AutoCAD and 3D Inventor)

Experience with technical and application knowledge of switchboards

Position Criteria

Demonstrated proficiency in verbal & written communications, organizational & computer skills

Additional Information:

Expected to work with some degree of independence and make decisions that affect the workgroup. Focus efforts on attaining assigned goals and objectives, which include meeting needs and expectations of internal and external customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach at or above shoulder level; grip; and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; stoop; lift; carry; push; pull; and grip. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 35 pounds. The employee is frequently required to push/pull up to or greater than 35 pounds. The vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to listen and to talk.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to noise and frequently exposed to dust.
