The Electrical Estimating Director (Director of Cost Management - Electrical) provides senior leadership across electrical cost and commercial management services for a regional office or major client portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, client advisory, and P&L accountability, with responsibility for building and leading high-performing electrical cost teams, ensuring excellent client delivery, and scaling the business through disciplined growth, recruiting, and operational oversight. The Director partners closely with executive-level clients and internal service line leaders to ensure projects are effectively staffed, delivered, and forecasted, particularly during periods of high demand and rapid growth, while shaping talent strategy, delivery standards, and long-term business performance.
Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive-level clients by delivering tailored electrical cost management and commercial management solutions and maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts and proactively drive new revenue generation across electrical and broader MEP and construction services.
Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and development of high-performing and diverse electrical cost and estimating team members.
Collaborate closely with internal service line leaders and project management teams to deliver integrated project solutions across commercial construction and MEP scopes.
Prepare fee proposals and negotiate professional services agreements to support profitable and sustainable growth.
Review and provide quality assurance on electrical and MEP cost estimates prior to client delivery, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project budgets.
Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership on operational performance, business growth opportunities, and resource planning.
Oversee team deliverables and coach staff to ensure high-quality output, effective quantity surveying, and strong cost consulting practices.
Drive revenue growth across service offerings, market sectors, and regional portfolios, leveraging an established professional network and industry insight.
Maintain accountability for financial performance and P&L results aligned with organizational goals and performance targets.
Deliver timely business reporting, including forecasting, performance metrics, and financial analysis, to inform leadership decisions.
Interpret financial results, including P&L statements, and report key insights and trends to senior leadership.
Mentor and develop team members to support long-term growth, succession planning, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Review and approve invoicing and partner with finance teams on accounts receivable to support healthy cash flow and financial discipline.
Develop and execute business development and marketing strategies to strengthen market presence and win new work.
Provide clear leadership and direction within the assigned business unit, setting standards for delivery, collaboration, and client service.
Perform additional duties as required to support the success of the business unit and the broader organization.

Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop talent at multiple levels within a cost management or estimating function.
Solid managerial and operational leadership experience, including oversight of P&L, forecasting, and performance metrics.
Track record of successful business development and revenue growth within cost consulting, electrical estimating, or related construction services.
Hands-on experience with electrical estimating, MEP estimating, and cost consulting for commercial construction projects.
Proficiency with Excel and other tools used for estimating, cost analysis, and project budget development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Background in quantity surveying, cost consulting, or construction management with a focus on electrical or MEP systems.
Experience working on commercial construction projects, including development and management of project budgets and estimates.
Familiarity with integrated project delivery (IPD) and lean construction methodologies and tools.
Experience in an owner's representative consulting environment or similar advisory role is highly beneficial.
Comfort working within a process-driven environment that emphasizes quality assurance, structured estimating, and disciplined operations.
Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex cost information and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Ability to support and contribute to a progressive, growth-oriented consulting culture with a local feel and access to large, complex projects.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, salaried position designed around a standard 40-hour workweek and a culture that promotes work-life balance. The role is based on site in one of several office locations, including New York, Nashville, San Diego, or Scottsdale, supporting regional and national projects. You will work in a professional consulting environment with close collaboration across cost management, project management, and finance teams, using tools such as Excel and other estimating and project budgeting systems. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $84.13 - $120.19/hr.
