Finance Manager

TheFinance Manager - Laboratory Consumablesserves as the finance leader and primary financial advisor to the VP/GM of the Laboratory Consumables business. This role is accountable for driving financial performance, ensuring disciplined execution, and maintaining overall business health. The Finance Manager will lead problem-solving initiatives using the ATS Business Model (ABM), focusing on efficiency improvements and waste elimination. As a trusted advisor, this individual provides objective, fact-based insights while constructively challenging leadership to achieve optimal outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the VP/GM by delivering clear, objective, and data-driven financial insights; actively challenge assumptions and decisions to improve business outcomes.
Lead the development and execution of the annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, and long-range strategic plans; ensure alignment with overall business objectives and growth strategies.
Own the monthly business review (MBR) process, including preparation of financial reporting packages, variance analysis, and actionable insights for senior leadership.
Drive financial performance by identifying risks and opportunities, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring accountability for results across the organization.
Apply the ATS Business Model (ABM) to lead structured problem-solving initiatives, eliminate waste, improve processes, and enhance operational efficiency.
Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to improve cost structure, optimize pricing and margins, and enhance profitability.
Oversee inventory management and working capital performance, including driving improvements in inventory turns, cash flow, and overall balance sheet efficiency.
Provide financial leadership in support of new product development, capital investments, and commercial initiatives, including business case development and ROI analysis.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with company policies, SOX requirements, and internal controls; maintain integrity of financial data within ERP systems.
Lead and develop the finance team, including setting goals, coaching, performance management, and succession planning; foster a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
As a member of Scientific Products' (SP) Finance Leadership Team, collaborate across business unit finance teams to identify and execute synergy and continuous improvement initiatives, while shaping the SP Finance organization and talent development strategy
Support audits (internal and external), ensuring readiness and responsiveness to auditor requests.
Drive adoption and continuous improvement of financial systems, tools, and reporting capabilities to enhance decision-making and efficiency.
Act as a change agent, leading finance-related transformation initiatives and supporting broader organizational change efforts.
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and fact-based decision-making across the business.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.,
Proven experience in a financial management role, preferably within manufacturing, life sciences, or industrial environments.
Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive results.
Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning.
Deep understanding of cost accounting, margin analysis, and operational finance.
Experience working in SOX-compliant environments with strong knowledge of internal controls.
Demonstrated success applying structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., lean, ABM, or similar frameworks).
Strong leadership capability with experience developing high-performing teams.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively.
High level of integrity, accountability, and professional judgment.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced certification preferred.
TRAVEL/SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS
Hybrid work arrangement consistent with SP/ATS HR policy.
Role is expected to be on-site approximately 60% of the time (generally three days per week), with regular presence in Warminster, PA.
Remote work (generally up to two days per week) may be approved based on role requirements, individual performance, and business needs, subject to manager approval.
Approximately 5-10% travel required to support business operations, primarily to Vineland, NJ and Pocomoke, MD sites.
Occasional additional travel may be required for leadership meetings, cross-site collaboration, or key business initiatives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is normally performed in both the office and the shop.
The office environment is an interior office with air conditioning.
The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned.
Some shop processes use high voltage arcs or concentrated magnetic fields.
The shop contains open flames and caustic chemicals.
Some areas of the shop may be designated as hard hat zones.
