The Spec II Architecture Engineering role focuses on reviewing and interpreting construction documents across multiple disciplines, managing project changes, and supporting engineering design and documentation for remodel, takeover, and special project work. This position provides in-house technical expertise, drives process accuracy and efficiency, and collaborates closely with architects, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality, cost-effective construction solutions.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret construction methods, materials, and codes, as well as site requirements and building engineering and designs for architectural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural disciplines.
Review, track, and verify project-related change orders, and implement corrective actions to reduce or eliminate recurring change orders.
Provide in-house technical support and general problem solving for remodel, takeover, and special project construction documents within defined timelines.
Manage work performed by architects, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment with project requirements, schedules, and standards.
Assist in the training and development of AutoCAD specialists, offering guidance on standards, processes, and best practices.
Effectively manage and communicate design and scope changes to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
Respond promptly and professionally to requests and inquiries from landlords, contractors, vendors, and governing authorities.
Assist in the design of engineering concepts and fixture plan layouts, develop scopes of work (SOW), and establish project deadlines.
Actively seek opportunities to improve the accuracy, productivity, and effectiveness of engineering processes and workflows.
Value engineer plans and specifications to reduce construction costs while maintaining quality and consistency across banners.
Stay current on relevant software tools, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Virtual Premise, and internal web resources, to effectively perform assigned work.
Keep up to date with applicable code revisions and incorporate changes into design and review practices.
Perform necessary clerical and administrative duties, including research, sorting, and assembling project data.
Clearly present findings, analyses, and recommendations to management using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously, each with different milestones and deadlines, while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Essential Skills
Ability to read and interpret construction methods, materials, and codes, as well as site requirements and building engineering and designs for architectural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural engineering.
Proven project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
Strong skills in reviewing construction documents with effective planning, organizing, and documenting capabilities.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating, reviewing, and modifying construction and engineering drawings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to provide technical support and problem solving related to construction documents and engineering concepts.
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and external partners.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage different project milestones and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.
Ability to effectively manage and communicate changes to internal and external customers.
Ability to respond effectively and promptly to requests from landlords, contractors, vendors, and governing authorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Working knowledge of the retail environment is a plus.
Experience with conceptual design and fixture plan layouts.
Experience in construction and engineering environments.
Familiarity with project management practices and tools.
Experience with Virtual Premise or similar facilities/real estate management software.
Motivated and self-driven approach, with a desire to improve processes and outcomes.
Ability to value engineer plans and specifications to optimize cost without compromising quality.
Ability to assist in training AutoCAD specialists and support skill development within the team.
Work Environment
This role is based at a corporate headquarters environment in Salisbury, working within a collaborative engineering and construction team. The work involves regular use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Virtual Premise, and internal web-based tools. The culture emphasizes strong teamwork, long-term tenure, and support for professional growth, with team members ranging from a few years to several decades of experience. The environment supports a healthy work-life balance and offers the flexibility of working from home one day per week, while most workdays are spent on-site in an office setting focused on technical design, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
