Job Title: Carpenter

Job Description

This role focuses on the removal and installation of lap siding and other Hardie board materials on a long-term exterior renovation project. The carpenter will perform demolition, structural preparation, and detailed installation work on building exteriors, including framing, flashing, wrapping, and window installation.

Responsibilities

Remove existing lap siding and related exterior materials in a safe and efficient manner.

Install new lap siding and other Hardie board materials according to project specifications and industry best practices.

Perform demolition work on exterior building components while protecting structural integrity and adjacent finishes.

Install and maintain proper flashing around windows, doors, and other openings to ensure weatherproofing and durability.

Complete exterior framing work as needed to support new siding and window installations.

Wrap buildings with appropriate weather-resistant barriers to meet project and code requirements.

Install new windows, ensuring proper fit, sealing, and alignment for long-term performance.

Use personal tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete daily tasks.

Follow all site safety procedures, including consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Collaborate with other crew members and site supervisors to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Essential Skills

Proven carpentry experience in exterior construction environments.

Hands-on experience with framing for exterior walls and openings.

Demonstrated skill in installing lap siding and Hardie board or similar fiber cement products.

Ability to perform accurate and durable window installations.

Knowledge and practical experience with installing flashing for weatherproofing.

Competence in using standard construction tools and equipment safely.

Ability to read and follow basic instructions and project directions on site.

Ownership of appropriate personal hand tools required for carpentry work.

Consistent use and maintenance of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience on multi-month or long-duration construction projects.

Familiarity with building wrap installation and exterior weatherproofing systems.

Ability to work independently and as part of a construction crew.

Strong attention to detail in measuring, cutting, and fastening materials.

Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Auburn, WA.

Work Environment

This position is based on an active construction site in Auburn, WA, working primarily on the exterior of buildings. The role involves full days of hands-on, physical work including lifting, climbing, and working at heights on scaffolding or ladders in varying weather conditions. Standard construction tools and equipment are used regularly, and consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and appropriate footwear is required. Work is typically performed in a field setting rather than an office, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and meeting project milestones.

This is a Contract position based out of Auburn, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $35.00/hr.
