The Manufacturing Specialist monitors and controls production kettles used to produce industrial grease and ensures that all products are manufactured according to defined formulations and procedures. This role involves accurately handling, staging, and pre-weighing chemical raw materials, operating a computerized process control system, and carefully recording inventory transactions. The position requires strong attention to safety due to exposure to high heat, pressure, and limited hazardous chemicals, as well as the ability to manually move raw materials in bags and drums and operate material handling devices. The Manufacturing Specialist plays a key role in maintaining product quality, process consistency, and a clean, safe, and efficient manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Manage raw materials from prestaging through the full manufacturing process, ensuring correct handling at every step.
Stage chemical raw materials, including accurately pre-weighing them, to support scheduled production orders.
Strictly follow defined manufacturing processes, formulations, and procedures to ensure consistent product quality.
Measure and add raw materials in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
Operate manufacturing equipment, including performing proper startup and shutdown of production kettles and related systems.
Flush and clean kettles, lines, and related equipment according to defined work instructions and cleanliness standards.
Monitor process equipment and computerized control systems to ensure proper operating conditions and process control.
Accurately record inventory transactions and maintain correct inventory documentation for raw materials and finished products.
Perform in-process testing, interpret test results, and take appropriate actions based on findings.
Promptly notify leadership of any mechanical, material, or process issues that could affect safety, quality, or production.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including the trash dock and surrounding production spaces.
Apply a working understanding of chemical Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information, raw material hazards, and appropriate safety protocols in daily tasks.
Use material handling devices and manual handling techniques to move bags, drums, and other raw material containers safely.
Support quality assurance activities by following batch records, documenting work accurately, and contributing to problem-solving and root cause analysis when needed.
Collaborate with team members to meet production goals, share information, and maintain a positive, safety-focused work culture.
Essential Skills

Ability to operate, start up, shut down, and clean manufacturing equipment such as kettles and lines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with process testing and quality assurance in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Familiarity with controls production and control systems used in process manufacturing.
Experience working with lab equipment and performing basic testing to support production.
Exposure to clean, well-organized production or cleanroom-like environments with defined procedures.
Participation in root cause analysis or problem-solving activities related to production or quality issues.
Strong sense of responsibility for maintaining safety, cleanliness, and product consistency.
Comfort working with hot to warm chemicals and understanding of safe handling practices.
Work Environment
The work environment is a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility that produces industrial grease using high-heat and high-pressure processes. While performing the duties of this role, you frequently work near moving mechanical parts and equipment that can generate vibration. You occasionally encounter fumes or airborne particles and may need to wear a fitted breathing mask that covers part of the face, along with other appropriate personal protective equipment. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, and provides a supportive, family-focused culture where teamwork and mutual respect are valued. Production activities rely on computerized process control systems, kettles, lines, and material handling devices, and the environment is structured to support consistent, high-quality manufacturing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
