Responsibilities Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in Information Technology principles, concepts and methods to support Information Technology systems and services. This position starts at a salary of $106,437.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $138,370.00 (GS-13, Step 10). In this Supervisory Information Technology Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals providing support and guidance on Information Technology systems and services. Typical work assignments include: Providing technical guidance to and overseeing a team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques. Identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. Analyzing, planning, and developing network systems hardware and software installations consistent with existing and planned network infrastructures. Additional Information Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment. Leadership Training: All newly appointed first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 3 weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed. On Call: This position may require the incumbent to be on call 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess a valid state driver's license at the time of appointment. Physical Demands: You may be required to climb tall ladders, towers, and other structures. You may be required to perform lifting and/or moving of equipment up to 50 pounds.
