ES229 Support Scientist - Commercial Aviation Services (CAS) Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated Support Scientist to serve as a Commercial Aviation Services (CAS) Coordinator in support of NASA's Earth Science Division (ESD).

This position plays a key role in coordinating the use of commercial aircraft services when NASA-owned assets cannot meet mission requirements. The selected candidate will support the Airworthiness Review process through the Eastern Region Airworthiness Review Board (ER-ARB) at NASA Langley Research Center, ensuring safe, compliant, and timely execution of airborne campaigns.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Strong understanding of NASA airworthiness policies, including NPR 7900.3 and NAII 7900.3

Familiarity with airborne science operations, including instrument integration and campaign logistics

Knowledge of commercial aviation services (fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and UAS platforms)

Ability to manage complex schedules, coordinate across organizations, and meet strict deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and stakeholder engagement

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

US Citizenship is required for this position.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Earth Science, Atmospheric Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in airborne science, Earth science research, or mission support

Demonstrated experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder scientific or technical projects

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting NASA airborne campaigns or working with the NASA Airborne Science Program

Familiarity with ER-ARB processes and airworthiness review documentation

Background in aircraft operations, systems engineering, or mission planning

Experience working with international partners and vendors
