The Electrical Engineer plans, manages, and coordinates engineering design work for power systems and electrical loads, applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to deliver high-quality solutions. This role collaborates closely with Sales to develop technical proposals and pricing for engineered orders, interprets customer specifications and drawings, and designs cost-effective, manufacturable products. The position supports the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through documentation, testing, and startup, while working cross-functionally with Drafting, Assembly, Procurement, and field technicians.
Responsibilities
Plan, manage, and coordinate electrical engineering design work for power systems and electrical loads using established engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Assist the Sales team in preparing technical proposals and pricing for engineered orders related to power distribution and control equipment.
Support Sales during customer calls and contacts by providing technical expertise and solution recommendations as needed.
Interpret customer-supplied specifications, drawings, and one-line diagrams to develop effective engineering solutions and accurate cost estimates.
Design and develop products that optimize cost and performance while meeting customer requirements and applicable standards.
Manage and deliver complete design packages to the Drafting department, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and manufacturability.
Generate detailed test procedures and product manuals required for production, testing, and field use.
Work closely with Assembly, Procurement, and field technicians during product build, test, and startup to resolve technical issues and ensure successful implementation.
Coordinate engineering responses and action plans to address design challenges, customer inquiries, and project requirements.
Collaborate as part of a project team to deliver cost-effective, manufacturable designs that align with project scope and timelines.
Support the maintenance and control of engineering documentation through established engineering change procedures.
Contribute to the development and creation of new electromechanical products in the power distribution and control space.
Apply knowledge of OEM electrical design activities in power generation, distribution, and protection to enhance product performance and reliability.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
At least 3 years of experience developing and creating new products in the electromechanical products space.
At least 3 years of experience with OEM electrical design activities, preferably in power design, generation, distribution, or protection.
Experience working with industrial equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Proficiency in electrical engineering and electrical design principles.
Experience using AutoCAD for electrical design and documentation.
Knowledge and practical experience working with ERP systems.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: power conversion, electrical systems, switchgear, utility applications, electrical construction, substations, or generators.
Ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings, and one-line diagrams for solution development and cost estimation.
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with Sales, Drafting, Assembly, Procurement, and field technicians.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with power distribution and control equipment, such as generator control switchgear, automatic and manual transfer switches, and switchboards or switchgear (low and medium voltage).
Familiarity with quick connect cabinets, control panels, automation cabinets, and prefabricated electrical building (eHouse) solutions.
Ability to generate clear test procedures and user documentation for complex electrical products.
Experience supporting product build, testing, and startup activities in a manufacturing environment.
Comfort working within a vertically integrated organization where design, fabrication, and assembly occur in-house.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate engineering action plans and resolve technical issues quickly.
Detail-oriented approach to managing design packages and maintaining accurate engineering documentation through change procedures.

The role is based in a new facility featuring a modern, open-concept office environment that supports collaboration and cross-functional teamwork. Engineering, fabrication, and assembly activities take place in-house, providing close interaction with production and field teams and direct visibility into how designs translate into finished products. The organization operates as a vertically integrated electrical equipment manufacturer, specializing in custom power distribution and control equipment such as generator control switchgear, automatic and manual transfer switches, low- and medium-voltage switchboards and switchgear, quick connect cabinets, control panels, automation cabinets, and prefabricated electrical building (eHouse) solutions. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bedford, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $60.00/hr.
