Accounting Manager

Long Beach, California

We are partnering with a growing, dynamic organization in Long Beach to identify an experienced Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and supervise a team of six. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing the month-end close, and maintaining strong accounting processes in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and an effective people leader who can drive accountability while supporting team development and process improvement.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial results

Supervise a team of six accounting professionals, providing coaching, oversight, and performance management

Oversee general ledger activity, including review and approval of journal entries and supporting documentation

Manage account reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved

Prepare and review financial statements and internal management reports

Coordinate audit activities, including preparation of schedules and response to auditor requests

Maintain and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Partner with leadership to support business initiatives and financial reporting needs

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred

5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience

Proven ability to manage and develop a team (experience overseeing 5+ staff preferred)

Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting

Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel

Strong organizational and communication skills

Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines

Requirements - 7+ years of accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities in an accounting manager or supervisor capacity.

Strong experience managing month-end close activities in a complex business environment.

In-depth knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation.

Proven ability to support financial statement audits and work effectively with external auditors.

Solid analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues and resolve account variances.

Experience preparing and reviewing reconciliations, financial data, and supporting schedules with a high level of accuracy.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
