About this Job
The mission of Louisiana Economic Development is to cultivate jobs and economic opportunity for the people of Louisiana.
This position serves as a key administrative and compliance support role within the legal team, providing coordination and assistance across legal operations, public records requests, and contract management activities. The incumbent will support attorneys by managing calendars, preparing correspondence, maintaining records, and assisting with regulatory and project-related tasks. Facilitates compliance with Louisiana Public Records Law by coordinating the intake, review, redaction, and response to records requests. Additionally, provides support for contract lifecycle tracking and documentation to ensure accuracy, organization, and adherence to legal and agency requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of an approved Paralegal or Legal Assistant program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), or at an accredited college or university; OR
Possession of a Certified Paralegal (CP) certification issued by the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc.; OR
A Juris Doctorate.
NOTE:
Disbarred attorneys and those who have permanently resigned from the practice of law in lieu of discipline may not be hired in any position in connection with the practice of law. Suspended attorneys or an attorney transferred to disability inactive status during the period of suspension may not be hired in any position in connection with the practice of law unless such hiring is first preceded by the submission of a fully executed registration statement to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, on a registration form provided by the Louisiana Disciplinary Board and approved by the Louisiana Supreme Court. Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Maintain and manage legal team calendars, tracking critical deadlines related to rule promulgation, advisory board meetings, and regulatory obligations.
Draft routine legal correspondence, memoranda, and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
Provide administrative and project support to attorneys, including organizing files, preparing meeting materials, and assisting with special initiatives.
Coordinate logistics for legal meetings, hearings, and board-related activities.
Maintain organized filing systems (electronic and physical) to ensure accessibility and compliance with agency policies.
Assist in the intake, tracking, and processing of public records requests in accordance with Louisiana Public Records Law and agency guidelines.
Locate, collect, and compile responsive documents from various sources, including databases, shared drives, and email systems.
Conduct preliminary review of records to identify confidential, privileged, or exempt information and apply appropriate redactions.
Coordinate with attorneys and internal divisions to ensure timely and accurate responses to public records requests.
Maintain logs and documentation of requests to support transparency, compliance, and audit readiness.
Assist with preparation of routine contract amendments, extensions, and related documents using approved templates.
Track contract lifecycles, including renewals, expirations, and key deadlines.
Support contract monitors and legal staff in ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
Maintain contract records and databases for accuracy and accessibility.
Provide administrative support for contract review and approval processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
