Summary The position is located in the Research and Development Office of the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALHBHS) and reports to the Administrative Officer (AO) for Research and the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS). Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION The Duties include but are not limited to the following: Process various @types of grants submitted to fund research projects, including but not limited to Merit, Biomedical Laboratory Research and Development (BLR&D), Clinical Science Research and Development (CSR&D), Health Services Research and Development Services (HSR&D), quality enhancement research initiatives, and broad/actively managed portfolios. Prepare, review, analyze, and evaluate grants requests to ensure regulatory and reporting requirement compliance. Conduct evaluation of the grants program, including monitoring, assessing, and ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions of the grant. Conduct administrative review of packages prior to submission, making minor corrections as needed to ensure compliance with applicable Requests for Application (RFA) requirements, and reporting to investigators any major issues which require investigator or study team action to correct. Submit final application packages, ensuring that submitted packages are received, validated, and checked for critical errors prior to the grant submission deadlines. Plan, schedule, and carry out major projects concerned with the analysis and evaluation of research programs conducted at this Medical Center; Develops standard operating procedures to optimize grant collection, communication, and execution management to include reporting procedures, sampling techniques, and measurements at various points in the transaction process or business cycle. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must have the following: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-12: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes preparing and reviewing medical research grant requests; interpreting and implementing grants policies, procedures, and practices; advising and supporting administrative processes within program areas; and communicate with a variety of management, staff, and customers.
