Job Title: Welder - 1st shift - $25 to $27 an hour
Job Description
This role focuses on independently fabricating and welding steel to produce large chemical tanks from start to finish. You will work from prints or drawings and a bill of materials to transform raw materials into high-quality finished products, using a variety of welding and fabrication techniques. The position requires strong blueprint interpretation skills, precise layout work, and the ability to operate cutting, bending, and fusing equipment with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Fabricate and weld steel components to build large chemical tanks independently from start to finish.
Review and interpret prints, drawings, and bills of materials to understand project requirements and specifications.
Select and prepare raw materials, ensuring they meet the required dimensions and quality standards.
Cut raw material using saws according to the measurements and details specified on the print.
Operate bending machines to form metal components to the required shapes and angles.
Use fusing machines and appropriate welding techniques to assemble and join components securely.
Perform all layout work prior to welding to verify that dimensions, angles, and fit-up are correct.
Inspect work during and after fabrication to ensure accuracy, structural integrity, and alignment with specifications.
Use TIG and MIG welding processes independently on a variety of steel components.
Apply coping techniques, including cutting, notching, and shaping the ends of metal components to ensure proper fit.
Follow work orders and work prints to complete projects on time and according to quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating tools and equipment.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of experience performing welding work independently.
At least 2 years of experience interpreting blueprints, work prints, and work orders.
At least 2 years of fabrication experience, including working from raw material to finished product.
At least 2 years of experience with TIG welding performed independently.
At least 2 years of experience with MIG welding performed independently.
At least 2 years of experience with coping techniques, including cutting, notching, or shaping the ends of metal components.
Ability to perform accurate layout work to verify dimensions before welding.
Ability to safely operate saws, bending machines, and fusing machines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following technical documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with stick welding is a plus.
Experience working with stainless steel is a plus.
Comfort reading and following detailed technical drawings and bills of materials.
Strong problem-solving skills to address fit-up and fabrication challenges.
Ability to maintain safe work practices in a fabrication and welding environment.

Work Environment
This position operates in a non-climate-controlled fabrication environment where you work around welding and metalworking equipment. You will regularly handle raw steel materials, operate saws, bending machines, and fusing equipment, and perform TIG, MIG, and other welding processes. The role is on first shift, with opportunities for overtime based on production needs. You should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and in an industrial setting that requires adherence to safety procedures and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
