Position Summary
Our client, global, research-driven pharmaceutical manufacturer, is seeking a highly motivated Scientist II to support preclinical research in cardio-renal and metabolic diseases. This role involves independently designing and executing in vivo studies, analyzing experimental outcomes, and contributing to the advancement of drug discovery programs. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in rodent models, a solid understanding of physiology and pharmacology, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.
Location: Fairfield County, CT
Pay rate: $40-$41/hr

Key Responsibilities
Independently design, execute, and analyze routine in vivo studies with minimal supervision
Develop and validate rodent models for cardio-renal and metabolic diseases
Perform dosing procedures, including oral gavage and IP/IV/SC injections
Conduct physiological monitoring and functional assessments (e.g., blood pressure, telemetry, metabolic studies, renal function assays)
Collect and process biological samples (blood, urine, tissues)
Perform laboratory analyses including histology, qPCR, ELISA, and biomarker assays
Interpret experimental data and recommend follow-up studies
Conduct literature searches and apply relevant scientific findings to experimental design
Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including study protocols, raw data, and reports
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (pharmacology, pathology, bioanalytics, and biology)
Qualifications
Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in a related scientific discipline (Non-PhD candidates only)
Industry experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO settings preferred
Strong understanding of physiology, pharmacology, and disease mechanisms
Knowledge of cardio-renal biology and metabolic disease processes
Hands-on experience with rodent in vivo models and procedures
Proficiency in dosing techniques and sample collection
Experience with functional assessments (e.g., telemetry, metabolic cages, renal assays)
Familiarity with molecular and biochemical techniques (qPCR, ELISA, histology)
