Summary You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NAVAL ARCHITECTURE) in the Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF. Responsibilities You will provide fully researched technical products that directly support the scheduling, execution and certification of work. You will assist in the improvement of documentation and processes through research of technical requirements and engineering engagement with Shipyard personnel and the naval technical community. You will utilize technical requirements and practical expertise of processes to prepare and review engineering products that are properly estimated, technically accurate, and executable. You will perform on-site assessments and analysis in support of planning and execution efforts. You will effectively communicate with other Shipyard departments to support work execution. You will ensure timely, technically accurate execution of structural engineering projects, document or drawing development or planning projects. You will conduct routine engineering studies of assigned work to determine overall requirements such as component size and capability, arrangement, special material, and work involvement of other codes. You will prepare engineering drawings, calculations, specifications or other engineering products in support of Navy or other customer requirements. You will approve, monitor, and provide technical oversight. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying technical authority through analyzing and interpreting technical requirements in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of ships and/or submarine structures. Providing technical expertise and oversight as well as a thorough understanding of shipyard processes and operations to ensure correct and reliable maintenance and repair procedure are executed aboard naval vessels.
