Help modernize the legal function that serves Minnesota's children, youth, and families. The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) General Counsel's Office (GCO) is hiring a Workflow Automation Specialist to transform manual, administratively burdensome processes into modern, scalable solutions. You will lead the full lifecycle of automation delivery-from discovery and requirements to design, build, deployment, and optimization-using Microsoft 365 and no-code/low-code tools. Your work will directly reduce cycle times, improve quality, and strengthen compliance across legal intake and operations.
What you'll do
Discover, analyze and map current legal and administrative workflows to identify automation solutions based on performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
Design, build, and refine automated solutions using Microsoft 365 (Power Automate, SharePoint, Teams, Forms/Lists, Planner) and legal technology integrations.
Implement end-to-end automations for intake triage, issue routing, approval flows, task generation, notifications/escalations, status tracking, metadata capture, and audit logging.
Translate complex legal and business needs into practical, compliant technical designs; document solutions and provide light training to support adoption.
Enable a citizen-developer ecosystem: create guides, offer training, and support sustainable automation adoption across the GCO.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize workflows to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance; partner with attorneys, paralegals, and operations leaders to align solutions with the Legal Technology Roadmap.
What success looks like
Cycle time reduction of prioritized processes (target 30-40%).
Automation coverage expanded across 5-7 priority workflows with strong user adoption.
Quality & compliance: lower error rates, improved audit readiness, and clear governance/controls.
