The Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary professional school of international studies and public policy that prepares students for careers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Our program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and networks to design policies, implement programs, and realize outcomes that enhance human capabilities around the world. We offer graduate degrees in International Development; International Human Rights; International Studies; International Security; Global Economic Affairs; Global Environmental Sustainability; and Public Policy as well as several certificate programs. The School's Office of Career and Professional Development provides services to all Korbel graduate students and alumni of the M.A., M.P.P., and Ph.D. programs and the International and Intercultural Communication Program. The fast-paced office, with 4 professional staff and 7-10 student employees, plays a critical role for students in the professional degree programs.
Position Summary
This position will manage the implementation of an AmeriCorps-supported grant that places DU students with Colorado-based non-profit and government institutions in internships designed to enhance their educational experience while preparing students for the workforce.
The Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs at the University of Denver, through its Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD), has been awarded an AmeriCorps Operational Grant to implement a program that places AmeriCorps members in internships where they serve high-needs communities while also gaining valuable, career-advancing skills and earn a living stipend. The Assistant Director will manage the grant implementation.
This position is covering for a staff taking family leave. It is a full-time, 1.0 FTE temporary non-benefited position reporting to the Senior Director for the Office of Career and Professional Development at the Korbel School of International Studies. The starting date is flexible in June. The ending date will be 12-15 weeks after the start date.
This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.
Essential Functions
Oversee marketing, communications, and outreach to all stakeholders including external employer partners, students, and the funder - Serve Colorado/AmeriCorps.
Develop and manage relationships with Colorado-based non-profit and government partners interested in community-engaged work
Work in partnership with other units across the DU campus including DU's Career and Professional Development among others
Develop and implement training and professional development programs that augment the AmeriCorps internship experience for participating students
Advise and provide career coaching for Korbel graduate students as related to AmeriCorps internship opportunities
Maintain relationship with the funder, Serve Colorado/AmeriCorps
Program Management and Administration
Develop and conduct outreach to a target list of Colorado public and non-profit organizations that fit the Serve Colorado AmeriCorps criteria to develop internships for Korbel students.
Manage development of student recruitment and marketing materials to support program goals and timelines
Develop professional development programs and events to augment AmeriCorps members' experience
Manage MOU process for program partners as needed
Participate in AmeriCorps training and grantee cohort programs
Coordinate AmeriCorps members' living stipend process
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to connect community partners with university programs
Proficiency with MS Word Office Suite and othercommon professional software
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, and manage project resources
Organized and detail orientated
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with internship, experiential learning program and/or career or professional advising
Experience in the higher education, international affairs and/or policy fields
program management experience
experience managing program budgets
Familiarity with financial management and databases
Experience developing and managing programs that connect community partners with university programs
Interest or knowledge of AmeriCorps programs
Grant management, and administration experience
Knowledge of career and professional development coaching with specific interest in field of international studies/relations
Project/program development and management skills within higher education
Interest or experience with internships or experiential learning within higher education
Ability to build and strengthen key campus and community collaborations and partnerships, and to link those relationships to larger divisional and institutional goals
Experience serving inclusive student populations
Experience managing an AmeriCorps program
Working Environment
Standard office environment.
Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.

Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Schedule may vary.

Salary Range:
The hourly wage range for this position is $28.00-$32.00.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
