Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician sets up, operates, monitors, and troubleshoots silicone coating, converting, and packaging equipment in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role includes equipment start-up and shutdown, changeovers, in-process inspections, packaging, and routine preventative maintenance, while ensuring compliance with safety, GMP, and quality system requirements.
Responsibilities
Set up, run, and troubleshoot silicone coating, converting, and packaging production equipment according to the production schedule.
Mix silicone compounds using industrial mixers, blenders, or reactors following established formulas and procedures.
Monitor batch parameters, including temperatures, viscosities, and curing characteristics, and make adjustments as needed during processing.
Accurately document batch data, process adjustments, and material usage in production records and logs.
Perform machine start-up and shutdown procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Change tools and break down machines to complete product changeovers efficiently and safely.
Inspect products during and after production to identify defects and initiate troubleshooting to determine root causes.
Package products into designated containers or packaging formats according to specifications and labeling requirements.
Perform routine preventative maintenance such as filter changes, lubrication, and minor repairs on production equipment.
Clean and organize the work area, equipment, and tools after production runs to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Adhere to all safety, chemical handling, and cleanroom procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Conduct in-process and final quality checks, including hardness, color, viscosity, and visual inspections, to ensure products meet specifications.
Communicate effectively with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and support smooth production.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma to enhance efficiency and quality.
Train other operators and technicians on equipment operation, processes, and best practices as needed.
Support cleanroom protocols and contribute to maintaining a controlled, contamination-free production environment.
Assist with basic assembly tasks related to production and packaging when required.
Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and maintain a high level of product quality.
Essential Skills
Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting manufacturing or production equipment.
Hands-on experience with batch work, including mixing, compounding, blending, and batch mixing processes.
Ability to perform in-process and final quality checks such as hardness, color, viscosity, and visual inspections.
Familiarity with cleanroom procedures and the ability to work effectively in a controlled manufacturing environment.
Understanding of and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machine start-up, shutdown, and changeovers.
Strong attention to detail for accurate documentation of batch data, adjustments, and material usage.
Basic mechanical aptitude to perform routine preventative maintenance, including filter changes, lubrication, and minor repairs.
Ability to troubleshoot process and equipment issues and identify potential root causes of defects.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and production team members.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for the entire shift.
High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's degree preferred.
Experience as a Manufacturing Technician, Cleanroom Technician, or Packaging Technician.
Experience in packaging operations within a manufacturing environment.
Experience working in cleanroom manufacturing, including adherence to contamination control practices.
Exposure to Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives.
Comfort working with industrial mixers, blenders, reactors, and related processing equipment.
Ability to perform basic assembly tasks related to production and packaging.
Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant work area.

Work Environment
This role is based in a cleanroom manufacturing environment with an adjacent warehouse area for shipping and receiving. You will work with silicone coating, converting, and packaging equipment, as well as industrial mixers, blenders, and reactors. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., requiring the ability to stand for the entire shift and lift up to 50 pounds. You will follow cleanroom protocols, safety and chemical handling procedures, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the processes and environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
