Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor
Job Description
The Warehouse Supervisor oversees warehouse operations and leads hourly employees to achieve departmental goals in safety, quality, productivity, responsiveness, and overall performance within a fast-paced, unionized environment.
Responsibilities
Lead, counsel, and support hourly employees, addressing their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Recognize and reinforce positive performance behaviors while addressing and correcting negative behaviors through appropriate feedback and progressive discipline.
Apply structured problem-solving methods, including the Quality Network process and A-3 reporting, to identify, analyze, and resolve operational issues.
Use the Workplace Organization (WPO) process to improve warehouse layouts, workflow, and overall efficiency.
Perform daily updates in the Timekeeping System (TKS) to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll data.
Prepare and maintain A-3 documentation in line with local guidelines to track problem-solving activities and outcomes.
Conduct daily meetings with the team to review business performance, communicate priorities, and encourage two-way communication and feedback.
Perform and document weekly safety observation tours to identify risks, promote safe work practices, and support a strong safety culture.
Plan and organize daily workloads in advance to meet production, shipping, and inventory goals.
Support fellow supervisors and colleagues to optimize shift performance and ensure smooth handoffs between shifts.
Ensure compliance with all applicable national and local contractual requirements in a union environment.
Enforce shop rules consistently and fairly to maintain discipline and a productive work environment.
Perform daily audits of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to verify adherence and identify opportunities for improvement.
Pursue ongoing professional growth and skill development through the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process.
Keep the broader supervisory and shop leadership team informed of pending activities, issues, and operational changes.
Oversee warehouse operations related to logistics, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and warehouse management systems.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while balancing multiple priorities such as coaching employees, driving throughput, and reporting team goals.
Solve operational problems quickly and effectively while maintaining performance standards under pressure and changing priorities.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of experience supervising in a union or UAW environment.
At least 2 years of warehouse supervision experience.
Demonstrated supervisory and management skills, including leading teams in a fast-paced operation.
Experience working in a union environment, including understanding of contractual requirements and shop rules.
Proven ability to lead and motivate employees and apply progressive discipline, including verbal counseling, written documentation, and terminations when necessary.
Strong people skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of employees, understand their needs, show empathy, and still drive performance.
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain performance when facing operational challenges.
Proficiency with computers and strong MS Office skills.
Ability to @type approximately 35 words per minute.
Knowledge of logistics, warehouse management, supply chain, inventory control, shipping, and receiving.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
Knowledge of basic mathematics.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of the basic technology used in the assigned area.
Knowledge of scheduling and other management systems.
High level of analytical ability to address complex problems.
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and drive work output.
Knowledge of quality control procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma required; 1-2 years of technical or business school training preferred.
Training in a skilled trades area or equivalent technical training is an asset.
Experience with 49 CFR regulations and handling dangerous goods is beneficial.
Experience using structured problem-solving tools such as A-3 reporting and Quality Network processes.
Familiarity with Workplace Organization (WPO) methodologies.
Experience with timekeeping systems and payroll-related data entry.
Experience supervising in a union or UAW warehouse environment with strong job tenure and stable work history.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative supervisor team in a large warehouse setting.
Interest in developing leadership capabilities through formal development plans and on-the-job learning.

Work Environment
This position is based in a large, unionized warehouse environment with approximately 140-160 employees. The team culture is highly engaged and cooperative, with UAW leaders and employees working closely with the supervisor team. The operation is fast paced, with priorities shifting between coaching employees, driving throughput, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and reporting team performance metrics. You will work with warehouse management, logistics, inventory control, and related systems, as well as standard office technologies such as MS Office and timekeeping systems. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to standard operating procedures, and strong collaboration across departments and shifts.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
