Location: The University is located in historic Kingsville, a friendly, safe city of 25,000 that is the home of the legendary King Ranch. Position Overview
Faculty members at Texas A&M University-Kingsville teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses across multiple sections and formats, maintaining high standards of instructional quality. They contribute to the university's research mission and also engage in service through departmental participation, student support, and collaboration on curriculum and academic initiatives. Additionally, they fulfill institutional responsibilities such as compliance processes, meetings, and supporting the university's broader mission of education and community engagement
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching
Teach undergraduate American History and World History courses in person, as needed based on enrollment.
Maintain high standards of teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
Develop course materials such as syllabi, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental expectations.
Service
Participate in departmental activities, including meetings, curriculum development, and assessment initiatives.
Serve the university by contributing to program accreditation, student recruitment, and community engagement aligned with TAMUK's mission of service to South Texas
Provide academic advising, mentorship, and guidance to students as part of departmental and institutional service expectations.

?Required Qualifications
Education - Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or M.A. in History or closely related field from an accredited university.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience - Prior college or university teaching experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Ability to positively and professionally interact with students and staff
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs
Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups

Ability to facilitate and adapt course and the course content
Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes

Additional Information
A federal proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Texas A&M University-Kingsville will not pay this fee. If immigration sponsorship may be required for employment, consult with private immigration counsel, at the individual's expense, is recommended to determine whether the individual's current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University-Kingsville subject to this fee.
In addition, on January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Abbott issued a moratorium on the filing of any new H-1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if sponsorship for employment visa status is required now or in the future, this moratorium may affect the university's ability to employ the selected final candidate. TAMUK will adhere to applicable regulations regarding visa opportunities.
