Initial salary placement is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable.
The district offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT -Guild, Local 1931 - Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code §87815, any required adjustment will be made within the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). The Position
San Diego City College is seeking a Student Health Clinic Nurse/NP (job classification: College Nurse). The role of the Student Health Clinic Nurse encompasses administrative, clinical, and outreach opportunities that encourage interactions with our diverse student body, while supporting social justice, equity, and healthcare access. This full-time position is scheduled throughout the academic year to meet Student Health Center ( SHC ) needs. The Nurse works collaboratively with the Coordinator of the Student Health Clinic and the Coordinator of the Mental Health Counseling Center to ensure wrap-around services for San Diego City College students

The Student Health Clinic Nurse position is a professional opportunity for an 11-month, tenure-track faculty member that provides a rich experience in an integrated healthcare setting in a new state-of-the-art facility.
Under general supervision, the Nurse performs work related to student health and wellness, including nursing evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, patient teaching, health counseling, health education, and maintenance of students' confidential electronic personal health records. The Nurse also assists with and coordinates the delivery of health education services and daily center operations. The Nurse's key role is in assisting students with clinical care services, health and mental health linkages, communicable disease control, illness assessment and referrals, first aid treatment, self-care programs, and health education resources. The Student Health Center staff support the overall mission of San Diego City College in standards of quality, excellence accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion by providing services and programs which engage and inspire students to achieve academic and personal success through increased knowledge related to their personal health and wellness.

Major Responsibilities
Provide high-quality episodic, urgent, and primary health care services to students through in-person and telehealth appointments.
Conduct patient evaluations including medical history, physical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of common acute illnesses.
Provide sexual and reproductive health services including pelvic exams, STI testing and treatment, HIV / STI prevention, and family planning counseling.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory studies and imaging when appropriate.
Prescribe and dispense medications within Standardized Practice Guidelines.
Provide first aid and initiate appropriate interventions in emergency situations.
Educate and counsel students on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive health practices.
Collaborate with the medical director, clinic coordinator, nurse practitioners, registered nurse, and interdisciplinary health center staff (including mental health counselors) to provide coordinated care.
Refer students to outside providers when care exceeds the scope of the student health clinic.
Participate in campus health promotion and education initiatives.
Assist in screening, reporting, and follow-up care for communicable diseases including TB, STIs, and emerging infections.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records and complete charting within established timelines.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA , the California Medical Information Act ( CMIA ), FERPA and Standardized Practice Guidelines.
Participate in clinic meetings, program evaluation activities, and the ongoing development of student health services including the review and critique of policies, procedures, protocols, and list of community resources.
Assist in the organization and management of a variety of confidential health records and files related to routine health care, student insurance, accident reports, and statistics.
Assist in data collection and analyses from daily documentation, surveys, and student learning outcomes. Utilize the data analysis to plan ongoing health services, prepare written reports, contribute to grant proposals, and document the changing healthcare needs of our population as needed to support clinic operations.
Qualifications
Master's in nursing OR Bachelor's in nursing AND Master's in health education or health science OR the equivalent OR the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.
Minimum Qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college which shall include courses in nursing, or in natural, behavioral or social sciences relevant to nursing practice;
Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she will be assigned, which can be met by:
(A) One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area; OR
(B) One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.
( NOTE : Other health services personnel shall not be subject to statewide minimum qualifications; however, all personnel shall possess appropriate valid, current licensure or certification to practice in California when required by law. Ancillary personnel shall work under appropriate supervision when required by their license laws.)
