Summary This position is located at Jesse Brown VA, in Patient Administration Service (PAS), Scheduling Operations Section. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the operations in either the Specialty Scheduling Section or Primary Care and Mental Health Section which includes all functions and operations that support timely and accurate scheduling of veteran appointments. Responsibilities This position has overall authority and responsibility for the scheduling operations. The incumbent is responsible for establishing and providing ongoing management and oversight of 44 employees, including the direct supervision of 3 employees. The duties and responsibilities of either the Specialty Scheduling Section or Primary Care and Mental Health Section include but are not limited to the following: Reviews scheduling operations and support systems, Consults, Vet Text, Scheduling software package, VA Online Scheduling, Cancellation Manager to ensure that Jesse Brown's activities comply with VA laws, rules, regulations, Joint Commission standards, VA Directives, and local policies and procedures. Participates in the selection process of new staff by reviewing job applications, interviewing applicants, and is designated as a selecting official. Plans and assigns the work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets short-term and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Evaluates staffing levels and needs, preparing appropriate and timely requests for change. Prepares recurring and Adhoc statistical reports for presentation to top management and other services. Monitors, evaluates, and implements improvements within the section and PAS. Serves on committees, work groups, and supports all other management initiatives as assigned, and the incumbent has overall responsibility to develop and present briefings to the service and the incumbent will develop evaluation tools to identify program effectiveness and shortfalls. Develops and implements phone and scheduling training the administrative as well as build clinical partnership to support the effectiveness of veteran customer service and care. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
