Job Title: Construction Project Manager - High-Rise Projects
Job Description
This role oversees the full lifecycle of high-rise construction projects, from preconstruction through closeout. You will manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and documentation, while ensuring quality, safety, and clear communication with all project stakeholders. The position offers the opportunity to work on impactful ground-up projects in a values-driven general contracting and construction management environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of high-rise construction projects, ensuring work progresses according to schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
Lead preconstruction efforts, including estimating support, logistics planning, and procurement strategies to set projects up for success.
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, coordinating with internal teams and subcontractors to sequence work efficiently.
Monitor project progress in the field, proactively identify and resolve on-site challenges, and maintain strict quality control standards.
Ensure full compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations, and actively promote a safe work environment on-site.
Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal project team members throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and all related project documentation to ensure accurate records and timely decision-making.
Coordinate and support project financials, including change management and financial reconciliation with clients and trade partners.
Supervise and mentor project engineers and field staff, providing guidance, direction, and support as needed to achieve project goals.
Participate in regular progress meetings, both internal and external, and provide detailed status updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
Support on-site trade coordination across all subcontractors to maintain workflow, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment with project plans and specifications.
Collaborate closely with the Project Executive, Project Manager, Superintendent, and Safety personnel to align field operations with project objectives and processes.
Maintain strong documentation control practices, ensuring that drawings, specifications, and project records are current, organized, and accessible.
Essential Skills
5-10 years of overall construction experience.
At least 3+ years of construction project management experience with direct involvement in high-rise building projects.
Hands-on experience with ground-up construction projects, ideally in the $10-$30M range.
Familiarity with vertical construction methods, sequencing, and logistics for high-rise structures.
Working knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and construction industry best practices.
Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam.
Demonstrated scheduling capability, including developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules.
Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation in a structured, process-driven environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus but not required with strong relevant experience.
Experience across a variety of project @types and sizes, with ground-up high-rise experience considered highly desirable.
Background in general contracting, construction management, or design-build environments is beneficial.
Ability to thrive in a process-driven role focused on workflow, information flow, and execution rather than direct personnel management.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve on-site issues quickly and effectively.
Commitment to core values such as honesty, discipline, quality, and teamwork.
Work Environment
You will work in a collaborative project team environment alongside a Project Executive, Project Manager, Superintendent, Safety personnel, and other project team members. The role typically follows a 60% office and 40% field split, with field time spent primarily in a construction trailer or on-site project office at active job sites. The position is highly process-driven, focusing on coordinating and managing all aspects of the construction process rather than direct people management. Daily activities include scheduling and attending meetings, supporting field operations, maintaining documentation control, and coordinating trades across all subcontractors. You will interact frequently with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams, with regular exposure to project financials, owner communication, and financial reconciliation with both clients and trade partners. The culture emphasizes family, honesty, discipline, and quality, with a strong passion for building projects that positively impact communities and a track record of continued growth and new project awards.
