Job Title: Janitorial Worker
Job Description
The janitorial worker keeps the facility clean, safe, and orderly by performing a wide range of cleaning and custodial duties. This role involves heavy cleaning tasks such as cleaning floors, shampooing carpets, washing walls and glass, sanitizing surfaces, and removing rubbish in both common and industrial areas.
Responsibilities
Keep buildings clean and orderly by performing routine and deep cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables following approved procedures and infection control plans.
Dust and damp mop floors in assigned areas using established methods and approved cleaning products.
Clean and sanitize bathrooms, warehouse floors, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment, ensuring all surfaces are properly sanitized.
Follow the eight-step cleaning procedure consistently to meet cleanliness and safety standards.
Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Move equipment and furniture to allow thorough cleaning, then return items to their proper placement.
Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish hard floors as needed to maintain appearance and safety.
Shampoo carpets and rugs to remove dirt, stains, and debris.
Seek out areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete tasks without constant direction.
Complete all tasks assigned by the supervisor accurately and within required time frames.
Perform all duties in accordance with applicable federal, state, and county guidelines and safety regulations.
Contribute positively to the team by exhibiting professionalism with customers, coworkers, and others in the facility.
Follow all safety procedures while using cleaning chemicals, equipment, and tools, including required protective footwear.
Essential Skills
At least 6 months of basic janitorial experience, including sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning.
Experience with industrial or warehouse cleaning environments.
Ability to perform heavy cleaning duties such as floor care, carpet shampooing, and wall and glass washing.
Knowledge of basic janitorial and housekeeping practices and procedures.
Ability to collect and dispose of trash safely and in accordance with established procedures.
Capability to move and reposition equipment and furniture to ensure thorough cleaning.
Skill in dusting, damp mopping, and sanitizing a variety of surfaces.
Ability to follow a defined multi-step cleaning procedure consistently.
Understanding of and adherence to safety and infection control guidelines.
Reliability in completing tasks assigned by a supervisor and following instructions.
Professional communication and teamwork skills when interacting with coworkers and facility occupants.
Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in custodial, industrial cleaner, or general labor roles.
Familiarity with stripping, scrubbing, buffing, and refinishing floors.
Experience using carpet shampooing equipment.
Attention to detail and initiative to identify and address areas requiring cleaning without being prompted.
Strong sense of safety and awareness while working around equipment, chemicals, and warehouse operations.

Work Environment
This position is based in a newer, clean industrial facility with approximately 32 employees on site. The work takes place in a warehouse and common-area setting that requires consistent attention to cleanliness and safety. Steel-toe footwear is required for all shifts due to the industrial environment. Available schedules include a Monday-Thursday shift from approximately 6:00/7:00 a.m. to 4:30/5:30 p.m., and Thursday-Saturday shifts from approximately 6:00/7:00 p.m. to 4:30/5:30 a.m. The role involves being on your feet for most of the shift, working around industrial equipment and cleaning machinery, and handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $16.00/hr.
