Position Summary...
This role is responsible for leading the delivery of a complex portfolio of store merchandise and operations projects across the existing real estate network. The role translates business, operational, and merchandising requirements into executable design and construction plans while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with Walmart brand standards and regulatory requirements.
The position partners closely with cross functional stakeholders and external vendors to manage design strategy, permitting, construction execution, and portfolio level governance while mentoring manager level project leaders and driving continuous improvement across project delivery practices.

Oversee a portfolio of concurrent merchandise and operations real estate projects, ensuring alignment to business objectives, brand standards, schedules, and approved capital budgets.
Develop and manage scopes of work by translating operational and merchandising requirements into actionable design and construction plans while balancing capital constraints.
Establish and manage portfolio-level schedules and budgets, identifying cross-project dependencies, reallocating resources as priorities shift, and mitigating delivery risk.
Lead design strategy for existing store projects, converting operational requirements into compliant architectural and engineering solutions.
Review and approve design deliverables, construction documents, and specifications to ensure compliance with Walmart standards, building codes, and ADA requirements.
Identify constraints unique to existing buildings (for example, structural limitations, phased construction, operational continuity) and implement mitigation strategies.
Coordinate cross-functional internal partners-including Store Operations, Space Planning, Merchandising, Facilities, and Realty teams-and external partners such as architects, engineers, general contractors, and consultants.
Communicate project status, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to senior leadership using data-driven insights and clear option analysis.
Serve as the escalation point for complex design, permitting, and stakeholder conflicts, resolving competing priorities while protecting business outcomes.
Represent Realty Project Management in capital planning discussions, providing portfolio-level insights to support investment prioritization.
Mentor and develop manager-level project management associates, providing coaching on design coordination, vendor management, and stakeholder leadership.
Drive process improvements to reduce cycle times, increase efficiency, and improve quality across project delivery and portfolio governance.
Establish and maintain standardized project governance practices, including reporting cadences, templates, quality checkpoints, and performance metrics.
Execute multiple business plans by identifying operational needs, removing barriers, allocating resources, measuring performance, adjusting delivery strategies, and maintaining contingency plans.
What You'll Bring...
Experience leading small and large-scale merchandise and/or operations real estate capital projects within a retail environment.
Strong knowledge of architectural, engineering, and construction processes, including design coordination, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
Proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules, identify variances early, and implement value-engineering recommendations.
Demonstrated experience navigating existing-building constraints and maintaining operational continuity during construction.
Ability to lead and influence cross-functional partners and external vendors to drive aligned execution.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex project information, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders.
Experience mentoring and developing manager-level project or program management talent.
Track record of implementing process improvements and standardized governance practices across portfolio delivery.
Ability to manage ambiguity, adapt to shifting priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, project management, or related area, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years' experience in commercial real estate project management, construction management, or facilities design.
Experience managing capital improvement projects, including design coordination, permitting, contractor oversight, and budget management.
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with combined capital budgets.
