POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for preparing and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment reliability and plant efficiency. Operates within standards, schedules, and KPIs established by the Engineering Manager. Serves as the liaison between maintenance, production, and other departments to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and Schedule Maintenance Work:
Prepare job plans using established templates, OEM guidance, and manager direction for labor, materials, tools, and safety requirements.
Draft weekly maintenance schedules and release work orders to technicians per the approved PM calendar and priorities set by the Engineering Manager; update schedules after manager review.
Maintain the PM calendar and task lists defined by the Engineering Manager; update assignments and dates as approved.
Coordinate maintenance activities with production to minimize operational disruptions.
Assist with minor maintenance tasks or troubleshooting as needed (less than 10% of time).
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
Inspect equipment and facilities to identify repair needs and areas for improvement.
Execute preventive maintenance activities to reduce equipment failures in accordance with the established PM program.
Support predictive maintenance checks (e.g., vibration, thermography) as directed; document findings in CMMS and escalate per procedure.
Work Order Management:
Review and clarify incoming work requests and sequence work orders in the CMMS per Engineering Manager direction and the approved schedule.
Ensure accurate documentation of completed work and update equipment history records.
Inventory Coordination:
Coordinate parts kitting with the storeroom and Purchasing to ensure timely availability.
Recommend min/max inventory levels to reduce costs without compromising reliability.
Maintain accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Provide cost and lead-time estimates to support budget.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Track maintenance KPIs (MTTR, MTBF, schedule compliance) and provide regular reports as defined by the Engineering Manager.
Analyze equipment performance trends and recommend improvements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records for all equipment and vehicles.
Provide feedback on maintenance programs for effectiveness and recommend changes; enter approved changes into CMMS.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements by following established procedures (e.g., LOTO, JHAs) and escalating issues as necessary.
Use established job hazard analyses and ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years in maintenance planning or industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with CMMS systems
Working knowledge of maintaining equipment and a facility.
Engineering and electrical installation skills; mechanical repair proficiency with the ability to assess equipment condition, determine corrective repair steps, and validate repair completion.
Ability to follow established standards and escalate recommendations for approval.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or similar.
OSHA safety training.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery.
Standing, walking, and climbing for extended periods.
Lifting or moving equipment and parts up to 50lbs.
Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Potential staggered schedule, weekend work, and on-call duties.
