Position Summary
Working collaboratively with the maintenance team, the Certified Electrician is responsible for executing maintenance programs and electrical projects to ensure the reliable operation of all electrical systems within the mill environment. This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and computer skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical Responsibilities
Perform general electrical maintenance across mill operations.
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, controls, and wiring on all mill equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Perform corrective maintenance on circuit breakers and related components.
Replace and repair faulty electrical components including motors, relays, switches, and gearboxes.
Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
Work with live voltage (up to 480 VAC) for troubleshooting purposes.
Planning & Continuous Improvement
Develop and implement maintenance plans in collaboration with the maintenance team.
Utilize diagnostic and monitoring equipment to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Support initiatives that improve efficiency, reliability, and cost savings.
Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation efforts aligned with company goals.
Safety Responsibilities
Follow all safety rules, regulations, and company policies.
Identify and eliminate potential hazards in the work environment.
Apply safe maintenance practices, including proper scheduling and lockout/tagout procedures.
Operational Requirements
Maintain working knowledge of all mill equipment and systems.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Work effectively in physically demanding environments, including:
Extreme temperatures (hot/cold)
Elevated areas (ladders, platforms)
Confined, dirty, or oily spaces
Heavy lifting, bending, and reaching
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Certified Electrician (required)
Experience in lumber manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
PLC knowledge required
Skills and Qualifications
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organizational and planning skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience with CMMS systems
Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Welding and cutting experience preferred
