Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on designing and delivering high-quality electrical systems for complex industrial and semiconductor-related projects. You will create detailed technical documentation, perform critical engineering calculations, and ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards. Working closely with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams, you will support projects from initial design through construction, including field verifications and on-site issue resolution.
Responsibilities
Generate comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models that align with industry standards, client requirements, and electrical engineering best practices.
Perform conduit and conductor sizing, carefully accounting for current loads, environmental conditions, and future capacity needs.
Evaluate cable tray fills methodically to ensure proper cable management, organization, and scalability for future expansion.
Perform detailed short circuit calculations to determine fault currents, select appropriate protective devices, and ensure system safety and reliability.
Perform precise voltage drop calculations to maintain electrical system stability and compliance with applicable standards.
Ensure all electrical designs comply with and, where possible, exceed local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
Apply established design techniques and exercise sound judgment when adapting and modifying design concepts to meet project requirements.
Uphold quality control by adhering to internal design and CAD standards for all drawings and documentation.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to define objectives, address complex features, and develop solutions to unusual or challenging problems.
Foster strong communication and collaboration within the electrical team and with multidisciplinary groups including structural, process/chemical, and architectural disciplines.
Coordinate effectively with inter-company teams to optimize efficiency, quality, and resource allocation across projects.
Conduct field verifications and site walks to identify existing conditions, validate design assumptions, and integrate findings into design packages.
Resolve design issues on-site during construction as needed, working with construction teams to implement practical and code-compliant solutions.
Contribute to the production of power distribution schematics, panel schedules, lighting and grounding plans, and other system diagrams, particularly for industrial and semiconductor-related projects.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 2 years of electrical design experience.
At least 1 year of experience working on industrial projects or similar environments such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, tool install projects, healthcare facilities, or oil and gas projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and modifying electrical drawings and models.
At least 1 year of experience performing conduit and conductor sizing and evaluating cable tray fills.
At least 1 year of experience performing short circuit calculations to determine fault currents and select protective devices.
At least 1 year of experience performing voltage drop calculations to ensure system performance and compliance.
At least 1 year of experience conducting field verifications and site walks to validate designs and existing conditions.
Solid knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations, and the ability to apply them in design work.
Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality and consistency in design and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
5 or more years of experience as an Electrical Engineer is a plus.
Ideal candidates will have 3 to 5 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer.
Experience working on semiconductor projects or tool install projects is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Revit for electrical modeling and coordination is a plus.
Experience with ETAP and/or EasyPower for power system analysis is a plus.
Ability to produce power distribution schematics, panel schedules, lighting plans, grounding plans, and related system diagrams.
Experience working on complex industrial facilities such as data centers, semiconductor plants, healthcare facilities, or oil and gas installations.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions to unusual or complex design challenges.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to team members and stakeholders.
Work Environment
This position is fully on-site at a large semiconductor facility, working closely with a team of approximately 50 employees. The typical schedule is 5 days per week on-site, with a start time between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, offering some flexibility. The role generally requires 40 to 50 hours per week, with eligibility for overtime when project demands increase. You will work in a fast-paced, highly technical industrial environment focused on semiconductor and related industrial projects. Daily work involves using tools such as AutoCAD, and potentially Revit, ETAP, and EasyPower, while collaborating with electrical, structural, process/chemical, and architectural teams. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to engineering and CAD standards, and close coordination with construction activities during field verifications and site walks.
