Applied Materials' Common Systems Software Department is searching for an intern to join our team in summer 2026! Our department develops the software for the control system of our products, which includes the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps, flow controllers and sensors. Our work includes creating algorithms to optimize the material deposition and removal on an atomic scale, the user interface, data collection, storage and analysis, remote access and security.
The position will entail the following:
Primary project =
Collect high frequency data generated by test stand devices (such as Themocouples, Presssure Transducer, FTIR, MFC, etc) and by wafer process equipment (Etch tools).
Align timelines across these devices and cleanup up the data
Derive insights and summary from this data by doing anlysis using JMP and AI tools
Quantify error sources.
Create auto-check algorithms to ensure equipment is functioning normally and remove sprious/outlier data
Automate the whole process and document the software
Secondary project as time permits =
Designs and develops code for control system software projects
Designs and creates proto@type software to interface with new devices, actuators and sensors
Creates and executes test plans on simulators, test benches or the lab
Develops software documentation Interacts and works closely with the team
Requirements
Student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.8 or above on a 4.0 scale
Is result oriented and has passion to contribute ideas, to influence others and to succeed
Proficiency and experience in C, C++, C#, .NET and data analysis tools is required

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
