Description

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join an organization in Sioux City, IA. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and analyzing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will drive accurate financial insights and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Analyze financial operations, trends, and obligations to forecast future revenues and expenses.

Prepare and maintain budgets, comparing actual costs against projections to identify variances.

Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of financial records and transaction entries.

Generate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

Advise management on resource allocation, budget assumptions, and tax strategies.

Develop and refine accounting systems for budgeting, cost tracking, and tax compliance.

Compute taxes owed and ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax-related documents.

Conduct audits of contracts and financial transactions to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Assist in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive chart of accounts.

Adapt accounting processes to leverage the latest computerized systems for efficiency.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; 3 years with a master's degree.

Strong knowledge of financial principles, tax regulations, and reporting standards.

Proficiency in preparing corporate tax returns, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.

Familiarity with bank reconciliations and monthly financial closing processes.

Ability to analyze complex data, solve problems, and present findings effectively.

Experience in manufacturing, transportation, or retail industries is a plus.

Valid driver's license with the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
