This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.
*This position requires onsite work daily at 395 John Ireland Blvd St. Paul, Minnesota.
As an IT Asset Coordinator, you will play a key role in managing the lifecycle of sensitive IT assets across the State of Minnesota. In this role, you will ensure all enterprise IT assets are accurately tracked in the statewide asset management system and that data remains complete, current, and aligned with state policies. You will receive, Inventory, deploy, update, and dispose of IT assets following established Asset Management User Guide processes; help maintain the integrity of asset records and their configuration relationships; and verify that billing, assignment, and location information is accurate using the IT Asset verification process.
You will also support customers and colleagues by responding to asset-related questions, resolving asset management tickets, coordinating equipment pickups, and ensuring proper documentation for asset disposition, including Property Disposition Requests and lost/stolen reporting. This position works closely with MNIT staff, agency partners, vendors, and Surplus Services, requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow state guidelines and procedures. This role is part of a collaborative team environment and requires reliable attendance, adherence to security and accessibility standards, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of IT related experience in an IT service delivery function.
Experience must include:
ITSM (IT Service Management) Technology and Asset Management Tools (e.g. BMC Helix or Service Now ITSM Toolset).
Active Directory, MECM, and Helix for gathering information on IT Assets and the users of those assets
Data analysis, quality assurance, and quality control processes
Experience and understanding of IT asset management principles, guidelines, and processes
Experience and understanding of Inventory Management processes and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.
** This position requires a driver's license for travel between agency-based offices .
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
ITIL foundation certification.
Thorough understanding of the standard IT assets within MNIT product catalog.
Advanced knowledge of ITSM (IT Service Management) processes.
Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Thorough understanding of MNIT processes for IT asset purchasing, IT asset inventory management, and IT asset disposal.
Experience using Tanium.
Physical Requirements
Requires moving/lifting devices such as desktops, monitors, laptops, and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations (Desk to desk or from one agency site to another), lifting devices up on to storage shelves (Above head (40 lbs.) and being able to gain access under desks (crawl).
