Summary Serves as an Accounting Technician for the VISN 6 Finance administrative staff and team members, located within the Central Virginia Veteran Affairs HealthCare System in Richmond, VA. Responsible for maintaining General Ledger control accounts and subsidiary records for the Medical, Administrative, Facility and Research appropriations. Responsibilities Duties Included: Performs clerical, assistant, or technician level work in support of budget, accounting, auditing, fiscal and/or financial management function. Performs budget administration support, financial systems support, cash processing or accounting technician work. Requires knowledge of existing accounting systems and their interactions, standard accounting codes, classifications, and terminology, an understanding of agency accounting policies, procedures, and requirements; and the ability to apply various accounting methods, forms, and techniques. Accounting technicians classify transactions, maintain, and reconcile accounts; close accounts and prepare reports and statements; analyze accounting data; and examine accounts. Examines, verifies, and maintains financial accounts and accounting data, and classifies accounting transactions including the verification of the accuracy and completeness of the accounting data. Reviews and classifies many @types of financial transactions involving the operation of the Medical Center. Receives and analyzes various @types of documents to determine propriety, validity, budget, expenditure limitation, completeness, and correctness of account data. Monitors and makes input to current vendor file so that vendors or Veterans may be paid promptly under the Financial Management System (FMS). Works with multiple services to obtain needed information to process the reimbursement request or voucher for payment received. Assists with the duties of the accountant and the Centralized Finance Unit to include establishing bills of collection, undelivered orders (UDOs), accrued services payable (ASPs), general post funds, suspense, and standard obligation set-up and maintenance.
