Kelly is seeking a Senior Accountant to work with our client, a rapidly growing mid-size RIA firm, on a direct hire basis. This role will work directly with the Controller and is a great opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility early and to advance as the company scales.
The Senior Accountant will:
Prepare and post journal entries
Own assigned balance sheet accounts end-to-end
Investigate and resolve reconciling items, variances, and unusual activity
Support adherence to the close calendar and accounting deadlines
Analyze account activity and provide clear explanations for period-over-period changes
Perform and maintain detailed reconciliations for complex accounting areas, including but not limited to:
Intercompany transactions and balance
Debt, interest, and related accruals
Fixed assets and depreciation
Prepaids, accruals, and reserves
Equity-related accounts (as applicable)
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for assigned areas
Respond to auditor requests in a timely and organized manner
Ensure work is performed in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Maintain accurate documentation to support audit and compliance requirements
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation
Participate in special projects such as process redesign and standardization, system enhancements (NetSuite)
Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting procedures and documentation
Partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate and complete data flows into the general ledger
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
4+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting experience strongly preferred)
Prior experience with publicly traded organizations is a plus
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and how accounts flow through them
Proficiency in Excel (Complex formulas, data analysis)
Familiarity with general ledger and balance sheet concepts
Exposure to month-end close processes and financial reporting
Strong attention to detail with ability to think critically about financial data
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication and collaboration skills
High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information
Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP system is a plus
