Job Title: Machine Operator - Encapsulation (Afternoon Shift)
Job Description
This role operates automated and semi-automated encapsulation equipment to produce high-quality components in a clean, organized, and temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. The Machine Operator sets up machines, loads materials, inspects finished parts, and maintains accurate production records while following standardized work instructions and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate automated and semi-automated encapsulation equipment in accordance with standardized work instructions and production requirements.
Mount assembly components, hardware, and potting compounds, ensuring correct placement and secure assembly.
Load raw materials into machines or fixtures, verifying correct @type, quantity, and positioning before operation.
Visually and manually inspect finished components to ensure they meet workmanship standards, tolerances, and quality specifications.
Identify, document, and promptly report defects, irregularities, or equipment issues to supervisors or appropriate personnel.
Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment, including pumps, hoses, and nozzles, to ensure reliable and safe operation.
Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe workstation that supports efficient workflow and minimizes risk of contamination or damage.
Record production data accurately for inventory management and Statistical Process Control (SPC), following established documentation procedures.
Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures, including proper use of hand and power tools and adherence to standardized work methods.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals, support continuous improvement, and resolve production or quality issues.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
1-2+ years of experience setting up and operating machines in a manufacturing or similar environment, or completion of specialized training and/or certification in machine operation if prior experience is limited.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings to perform accurate setups and inspections.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow work instructions, complete documentation, and communicate with team members.
Proficiency in basic machine operation, including starting, stopping, adjusting, and monitoring equipment.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during setup, assembly, and maintenance tasks.
Capability to perform visual and manual inspections to verify part quality and adherence to tolerances.
General labor skills, including labeling, material handling, and organizing work areas.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts and recording production data for process monitoring.
Experience working with encapsulation, potting compounds, or similar manufacturing processes.
Comfort working around running equipment and light industrial noise.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to follow standardized work instructions consistently and suggest improvements when appropriate.

Work Environment
This position operates on an afternoon shift from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work takes place in a temperature-controlled, clean, and well-organized manufacturing facility with slight noise from running equipment. The environment supports consistent, high-quality production with clearly defined workstations and standardized procedures. Employees regularly work with encapsulation machines, hand tools, power tools, pumps, hoses, and nozzles, and use documentation tools for recording production and SPC data. The facility is designed to promote safety, cleanliness, and efficiency throughout the shift.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.
