Job Title: Superintendent of Construction
Job Description
This position is for an experienced Superintendent to oversee ground-up commercial construction projects from initial site clearing through final closeout. The role suits a hands-on field leader who excels in subcontractor coordination, scheduling, documentation, and communication, and who thrives in a structured, repeatable project environment. You will work within standardized programs supported by historical data, checklists, and collaborative field leadership so you can focus on execution, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
Responsibilities
Oversee all phases of ground-up commercial construction projects from grubbing and site clearing through final completion and closeout.
Manage and coordinate all subcontractor activities on site to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications.
Enforce project standards, quality control measures, and safety protocols consistently across the job site.
Produce thorough and accurate field documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, Job Hazard Analyses, and related safety and quality records.
Develop, maintain, and update detailed four-week look-ahead schedules, ensuring alignment with overall project milestones.
Review and break down four-week look-ahead schedules with subcontractors on a weekly basis to clarify expectations and resolve conflicts.
Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings to review progress, address issues, and plan upcoming work.
Communicate effectively and proactively with project management and field leadership regarding schedule, manpower, material needs, risks, and changes.
Collaborate with other superintendents to share best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvement ideas.
Maintain momentum, make timely decisions, and keep the project moving forward in a fast-paced construction environment.
Use Procore and other construction management tools to manage documentation, track progress, and support project controls.
Interpret and work from blueprints and construction documents to ensure accurate execution in the field.
Support tenant improvement work as needed, applying the same standards of quality, safety, and schedule control used on ground-up projects.
Essential Skills
7-10+ years of Superintendent experience on ground-up commercial construction projects.
Proven experience managing projects from initial site work through final closeout.
Demonstrated success in subcontractor management and coordination on active job sites.
Strong understanding of construction scheduling, including creation and management of look-ahead schedules.
Solid knowledge of field documentation requirements, including daily reports, progress photos, and safety documentation.
Experience with Procore or similar construction management software.
Ability to enforce and maintain high standards of quality control and site safety.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
Experience working with or for a general contractor in a commercial construction environment.
Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety practices; OSHA 30 certification is strongly preferred.
Capability to manage both ground-up construction and tenant improvement scopes.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with subcontractors, project management, and field leadership.
Ability to operate effectively within standardized programs and repeatable build processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with commercial retail, dental, medical, or small grocery projects is preferred.
Experience in tenant improvement projects in addition to ground-up work is beneficial.
Experience using Procore for project management, documentation, and field controls.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and scheduling.
Demonstrated ability to work within clear expectations and established systems that support field success.
Comfort working in a collaborative superintendent culture, sharing best practices and supporting peers.
A track record of maintaining quality, safety, and schedule in a fast-paced construction environment.
Commitment to continuous improvement and openness to standardized, repeatable project processes.
Work Environment
This role is based on active commercial construction sites, primarily focused on ground-up construction and tenant improvement projects. You will work in a fast-paced field environment where you oversee site work, structure, finishes, and final punch from start to finish. The position involves regular interaction with subcontractors, project management, and other superintendents, supported by standardized programs, historical data, and checklists. Procore and other construction management tools are used daily for documentation, scheduling, and coordination. The work setting emphasizes strong safety practices, consistent quality standards, and clear communication. Project backlogs are steady, offering long-term continuity and exposure to a variety of commercial project @types, including retail, dental, medical, and small grocery facilities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleburg, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.
