The Telecom Construction Manager for data centers oversees the design, development, testing, and implementation of computer and network-related equipment and infrastructure within data center environments. This role directs technical teams, ensures that hardware and related components meet performance and operational requirements, and supports the full product lifecycle from concept through installation. The position combines hands-on technical oversight with leadership, mentoring, and close collaboration with engineering, design, and support teams to deliver reliable, high-performing data center and network solutions.
Responsibilities
Review, research, and contribute to the design and development of computer and network-related equipment and infrastructure for data center environments.
Oversee and escort activities related to the installation and implementation of computer and network equipment within data centers.
Instruct and assign staff to provide technical support to designers, marketing and sales teams, suppliers, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the product development and implementation process.
Assign and oversee the testing and verification of hardware and support peripherals to ensure they meet all specifications, requirements, and performance standards.
Supervise the build, testing, and modification of product proto@types using working models and theoretical models constructed with computer simulation tools.
Assign staff to analyze user needs and recommend appropriate hardware and related components to meet operational and performance requirements.
Direct technicians, engineering designers, and other technical support personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of project tasks.
Confer with engineering staff and consult technical specifications to evaluate the interface between hardware and software and to confirm that overall system performance requirements are met.
Monitor and guide work within network and IT spaces, ensuring that network equipment and materials are used correctly and according to design and safety standards.
Apply strong mechanical and electrical understanding within data center environments to support construction, installation, and maintenance activities.
Provide mentoring, coaching, and constructive performance feedback to team members to support their professional development and maintain high-quality work.
Manage time and resources effectively, ensuring that all assigned projects and tasks progress according to schedule and quality expectations.
Identify and escalate issues quickly by raising awareness to relevant stakeholders, including management, when risks, problems, or deviations from plan occur.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills by diagnosing technical issues, proposing solutions, and supporting their implementation in the field.
Ensure that customer service standards are met by supporting internal and external stakeholders with clear communication and reliable technical guidance.
Essential Skills
8+ years of experience in customer service-related roles within technical, network, or infrastructure environments.
At least 3 years of experience working in data center environments.
At least 2 years of experience working within network or IT spaces.
Strong knowledge of network equipment and materials with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.
Customer service and interpersonal skills to support internal and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced technical environment.
Strong mentoring skills to provide guidance, support, and constructive performance feedback to team members.
Strong knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
Strong knowledge of computer software, including configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software, and internet directory services software.
Ability to follow instructions accurately while also acting as a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hardware, equipment, and infrastructure components in data centers.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies, tools, and processes.
Effective communication skills to raise awareness of issues and escalate concerns promptly to management and relevant stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent training and education.
Experience with Network/IT work or mechanical/electrical work within data centers, with a minimum of 3 years in data center environments considered a strong advantage.
Experience supervising or directing technicians, engineering designers, or other technical support personnel.
Experience working with product proto@types and computer simulation models.
No specific degrees or certifications are strictly required if equivalent experience is demonstrated.
Track record of acting as a self-starter, showing initiative and ownership of tasks and projects.
Ability to communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, including engineering, design, sales, and supplier teams.
Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
