Job Summary:
Provide financial decision support, expertise, and oversight to a designated Senior Vice President of Operations and the corresponding regions, districts and stores to assist in achieving key business and financial objectives. Deliver data-driven insights and an acute understanding of regional retail and pharmacy financial performance that enables operations leaders to make more effective business decisions and maximize EBITDA. Contribute to the development and execution of business team priorities by participating in local cross-functional issue identification, analysis and resolution and guide management on financial-related matters and decisions. Provides day-to-day financial support to the Senior Vice President and the 6-9 Region Vice Presidents within their assigned territories.

Job Responsibilities:
Provides dedicated strategic financial support for Senior Vice President. Supports SVPs with facilitation and content development for key business performance meetings and engages in strategic business planning for the assigned regions. Apply local and regional insights to tailor corporate strategy appropriately.
Creates and delivers periodic business performance reviews to SVP & RVP including but not limited to: Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Business Review, P/L reviews, weekly performance recaps and day-to-day root cause and exception analysis. Involves evaluating both financial and operational results, monitoring data and contributing to the development of key initiatives.
Identifies new or incremental growth, performance improvement, and cost mitigation opportunities within the assigned territory and calls out risks within current plans or performance trends to help deliver company EBITDA results above plan.
Conducts financial evaluations of proposed projects and investments by gathering assumptions, making financial projections using discounted cash flow principles and creating business cases that substantiate the rationale for investments. This may include analysis, financial modeling or review of financials for new store stores, acquisition candidates and the like.
Partners with business management to maintain a strong understanding of the key operational business drivers, processes, priorities, and future strategic direction of the assigned territories.
Provides financial support and guidance to operations leadership for the target and goal-setting processes which are the basis for Performance Management measurement and enable Pay for Performance within Pharmacy & Retail Operations.
Supports preparation of store-level financial forecasts, targets and budgets, including the identification/quantification of risks and opportunities; involves facilitating the negotiation and agreement of key metrics and inputs and helping to quantify and advise on relevance of exceptions or adjustments to agreed upon targets.
Supports strategy development in the @context of the Walgreens operating model and standards by providing financial support, forecasting, reporting and analytics in development and support of identified opportunities.
Responsible for financial acumen coaching and mentoring of all Pharmacy & Retail Operations team members in the assigned territories, including Store and District leadership through various means including store visits, virtual or in-person meetings and office hour sessions. Assists various cross-functional support office teams with the creation of training guides, coursework and other materials needed to develop financial acumen and understanding of the field teams.
Collaborates with field leadership to identify opportunities for increased standardization and efficiency of financial reporting, data and analysis.
Owns one or more standardized financial reports or deliverables for chain-wide distribution and participates in ad hoc special projects providing financial subject matter expertise, as directed by Finance leadership.
Keeps field leadership informed of broad macro-economic trends and external impacts within assigned territories.
Collaborates cross-functionally with corporate team members to support field leadership's financial planning, reporting, and analysis needs.
Works through the SVP to contribute to the development and execution of business team priorities by participating in cross-functional joint issue identification, analysis and resolution with management and other business partners.
Addresses issues with appropriate teams to develop plans of action. Identifies opportunities to improve processes and practices. Works with business and functional teams to develop consistent management reporting and processes.
Performs periodic analyses of variances compared to target, plan, forecast and prior periods.
Attends and supports periodic in-person team business meetings and store visits as directed by the SVP and finance leadership.

External Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, economics or store operations or High School/GED and at least 5 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, economics or store operations.
Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
At least 2 years of experience with analyzing and/or reporting data in order to identify issues, trends or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
Experience in MS Office suite.
At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Accounting / Finance or an MBA.
Experience in and working knowledge of the Retail and/or Healthcare Industries.
At least one year of experience providing direct leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
Experience communicating verbally and in writing with medium size groups of 10-20 people that may include management up to the VP level.
Experience coordinating and facilitating executive management meetings.
