At full performance level the incumbent for this position will serve as a district Litigation Support (LS) Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support specialty areas which support information management needs of the United States Attorney's office (USAO), Eastern District of Wisconsin (EDWI). The Litigation Support environment includes database management, hardware, software, troubleshooting, intake of discovery, cloud based management systems and litigation support operations. Typical work assignments will include: Performing litigation support tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the litigation support systems. These duties include a variety of information technology support to meet information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities, including specialty litigation support software; Providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation options, systems capabilities, and support services available to aid in case preparation, trial preparation and presentation. Ensures systems availability, funtionality, and efficiency by testing, implementation, and maintenance of litigation support resources; Maintains systems/networks availability through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools; Diagnoses and resolves problems in response to customer needs Providing recommendations to attorneys and other district personnel as to the most technically efficient, and cost-effective designs needed to meet user requirements and litigation objectives through automation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, OR Education. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as applying routine Information Technology concepts, methods, standards and practices to determine service and information requirements needed to complete automated litigation support (ALS) projects. Examples include: customer support in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving routine litigation support computer software/hardware problems; providing user training and support on a variety of routine eDiscovery and multimedia (video and presentation graphics) applications; trial preparation, graphics, and presentation; and managing Litigation Support systems; preparing computerized presentations using a variety of software including databases, spreadsheets, word processing, cloud based, mapping, trial presentation, audio and video editing applications. Education: One of the following @types of education in a closely related field (i.e. computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
