Summary The Spaceflight Division at Ames Research Center is seeking skilled individuals to lead and perform research, analysis, and investigations of the motion mechanics of flight vehicles under applied forces of flight vehicles in various atmospheric, planetary, celestial and space environments. Analyses and studies will result in recommendations and guidance on resolving complex problems involving mission design and operational regimens for spaceflight projects. Responsibilities Conduct trajectory design and orbital engineering analysis for aerospace and aeronautical missions, including spacecraft trajectories, flight systems, vehicles, and payload architectures. Perform engineering trade studies and trajectory analyses for aerospace systems with multiple, competing mission and system requirements. Collaborate with project engineers and researchers to define flight mission engineering requirements, constraints, and performance objectives. Provide maneuver engineering support and trajectory design reviews for new and ongoing aerospace projects. Evaluate spacecraft subsystem engineering performance, including propulsion, guidance, navigation, control, sensors, power, and communications systems. Conduct engineering studies and develop technical reports addressing trajectory or system design performance and mission capability. Education Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following: a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus; and that provided an in-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations.
