Job Title: Supply Chain Buyer
Job Description
The Supply Chain Buyer plays a key role in managing supplier relationships and coordinating the procurement of materials, components, and services in a dynamic aerospace manufacturing environment. This position focuses on achieving timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of supplies to support ongoing production, new product development, and strategic business initiatives. The role offers the opportunity to influence the future of the procurement department and grow into a leadership position.
Responsibilities
Manage supplier relationships to ensure reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective supply of materials, components, and services.
Achieve the lowest possible material cost while balancing optimal quality and schedule requirements.
Solicit and evaluate supplier proposals using appropriate negotiation, cost analysis, and price analysis techniques.
Evaluate current and anticipated material requirements using ERP/MRP action plans and reports.
Implement purchase contracts in line with sound purchasing practices and ensure compliant acquisition of materials and services that meet applicable company and government regulations.
Support new product introduction and development projects by ensuring sourcing provides the best possible supply solutions.
Collaborate closely with Program Management, Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure production schedules are met and customer on-time delivery targets are achieved.
Manage all Purchase Order (PO) activities, including PO creation, modifications, and changes.
Handle Vendor Return Material Authorizations (VRMA), Return to Vendor (RTV) processes, and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
Monitor, plan, and ensure the timely delivery of supplies and materials to support manufacturing operations.
Support strategic projects and initiatives that drive new business and continuous improvement within the supply chain function.
Assist the Purchasing department and leadership with special projects and assignments as needed.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of buyer or planning experience in discrete manufacturing of finished goods, preferably within aerospace, medical device, or automotive industries.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to electronics or electronic components.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems for planning and purchasing activities.
Experience purchasing within a machine shop environment or purchasing from machine shops.
Demonstrated experience in procurement, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier negotiations.
Experience negotiating prices and/or contracts to achieve favorable commercial terms.
A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Ability to travel up to 10% as required by the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
APICS or ASCM certification preferred.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the potential to grow into a leadership role.
Experience with ERP system implementation projects.
Knowledge of federal acquisition regulations.
Proven ability to manage changing priorities while ensuring supplier commitments are met.
Ability to build, develop, and maintain strong supplier relationships and identify new supplier sources.
Experience sourcing both electrical and mechanical components.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and take appropriate action with limited supervision.
Strong ERP and supply chain knowledge and skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management tools.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in a manufacturing facility that designs and produces electromechanical actuators and control electronics for commercial and military applications. The organization operates on a 9-day, 80-hour work schedule, alternating between a Monday-Friday workweek and a Monday-Thursday workweek to total 80 hours over two weeks. The Supply Chain Buyer works closely with the Materials, Operations, Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Sales teams and participates in regular onsite meetings to support production and materials planning. Buyers typically focus on either Flight Control Actuation or Utility Actuation product lines, providing exposure to complex aerospace components and systems. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and project-driven, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, cross-functional communication, and professional growth within the procurement function.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
Will be eligible for benefits (vision, medical, dental) and then will participate in 9/80 work schedule
