Summary Position will serve as work leader in the File Room/Scanning Section of Health Information Management Service at Veterans Health Care Systems of the Ozarks (VHSO). Serves as the Lead File/Scanning Clerk. The Lead File Clerk leads; 18 GS-04 File Clerks. Serves as Acting Supervisor, Health Information Management File Room/Scanning Section, during periods of absence. Responsibilities Major Duties include: Ensures all necessary health/administration information is integrated into Vista through PC scanning hardware and software. Controls a large volume of patients' medical records scanning. Conducts follow-up activities, which require tact and persistence when information is not received in a timely fashion. Maintain records overdue database. Ensures that assignments are carried out, by performing a wide range of duties. Ensures work is disseminated appropriately and notifies supervisor of any backlog. Maintains workload and productivity reports for the section. Employs a cooperative attitude in interactions with co-workers and supervisors. Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees referring others to the supervisor. Coordinates record transfer, record follow-up, and indexing functions with clinical team members. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; subject to change based on the needs of the agency. Telework: This position is authorized for telework. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/16/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Providing clear instructions to others; providing insight or guidance to resolve issues; communicating effectively to internal/external customers; scanning, uploading, indexing, and destruction of non- electronic health records, electronic health records, and customer service in a medical setting; and maintaining confidentiality of patient/employee information. NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
