This full-time, on-site Sales Manager role is responsible for leading and developing a retail sales team, driving sales performance, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. You will oversee daily sales strategies, set and monitor company goals, manage claims, credits and rebates, and resolve client and staff issues in a fair and effective manner. Working closely with marketing and product teams, you will use market intelligence to influence wider business initiatives while maintaining a high-performing, collaborative sales environment.
Responsibilities
Set clear sales goals, regularly compare performance against targets, and adjust goals as needed to achieve organisational objectives.
Assess current team processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement effective changes.
Manage claims, credits, and rebates accurately and efficiently to support both customer satisfaction and business performance.
Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally, ensuring consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.
Recruit, hire, and onboard new sales team members to build a strong, capable team.
Coach, mentor, and provide ongoing feedback to the sales team to support their development and success.
Foster a competitive yet collaborative team environment that encourages high performance and shared success.
Ensure the sales team remains up to date on product knowledge and effective sales techniques.
Assess individual performance through observation and measurement, and recommend or implement corrective actions when needed.
Address staff disputes in a fair, timely, and effective manner to maintain a positive working environment.
Provide informed feedback to marketing and product teams based on market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity.
Attend managers' meetings and actively contribute to company-wide initiatives and strategic discussions.
Work on the sales floor assisting the sales team and leading by example in customer engagement and service.
Perform other related functions as necessary or as assigned to support business needs.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of experience in the retail sales industry.
A minimum of 5 years of sales experience with a proven record of achieving goals.
At least 2 years in a supervisory role with demonstrated ability to meet quotas.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or equivalent experience.
Strong background in sales, retail management, customer service and account management.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and identify improvements.
Strong oral and written communication skills suitable for internal and external stakeholders.
Proven managerial skills, including team leadership, coaching, and performance management.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and remain flexible in the face of change.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact confidently with sales staff, sub-contractors, and customers.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, with store system training provided.
A positive attitude, results-driven mindset, and a strong desire to succeed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
background in construction is preferred but not required.
Experience managing a team within a retail or customer-facing environment.
Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Comfort contributing insights to marketing and product teams based on market intelligence.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position based in a retail environment, working Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional nights and Saturdays as business needs require. You will manage a sales team of around 10 people within a company of approximately 56 employees, providing hands-on leadership on the sales floor and supporting the team in daily customer interactions. The role involves working in a fast-paced, customer-facing setting that requires attention to detail, adaptability, and strong collaboration across departments, supported by standard office technologies such as Microsoft Office and in-store systems.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
