The Bilingual Medical Assistant supports a busy primary care clinic by ensuring timely client check-in, preparing clients and examination rooms for medical visits, and assisting providers with examinations and procedures. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient clinic flow, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring accurate documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system while communicating effectively with Creole-speaking clients.
Responsibilities
Ensure proper and timely check-in of clients and prepare clients for medical examinations.
Coordinate client flow throughout the clinic to support efficient and smooth operations.
Prepare examination rooms for clinical visits and procedures, ensuring all supplies, materials, and equipment are stocked, available, and functional.
Collect, transport, disinfect, and prepare instruments for sterilization in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Verify proper client identification using at least two approved client identifiers at all appropriate steps of care.
Escort clients to appropriate areas throughout the clinic in a courteous and professional manner.
Complete all assigned tasks within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system within the requested timeframes.
Schedule follow-up appointments for clients as directed by medical providers.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EHR, including recording and updating client vital signs.
Identify and promptly report abnormal findings and vital signs to the medical provider.
Prepare and complete laboratory orders and requisitions, ensuring proper specimen collection, labeling, processing, and documentation using a minimum of two patient identifiers.
Ensure all laboratory specimens are properly packaged and securely enclosed for transport to the laboratory.
Assist medical providers with examinations, procedures, injections, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing as needed.
Review visit summaries and discharge instructions with clients as directed by the provider, ensuring understanding and answering basic questions.
Update and record client information in the EHR, including allergies, medication reconciliation, immunization history, and health history forms.
Send and receive documents via fax at the request of providers and ensure proper documentation.
Make outbound phone calls to clients as requested by providers and document all communication in the EHR.
Assist with the completion of clinical and administrative forms as required by the clinic.
Prepare and review the next day's client schedule and anticipated care needs to support smooth clinic flow and readiness.
Provide professional, compassionate customer service to all clients, including Creole-speaking clients, to support a positive care experience.
Essential Skills
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential.
At least 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant.
Fluency in Creole (bilingual Creole/English) required for direct client communication.
Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR), including documenting visits, vital signs, and communications.
Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows in a primary care setting.
Ability to perform phlebotomy, including safe and accurate blood draws.
Ability to administer injections safely and accurately as directed by providers.
Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with clients and clinical staff.
Ability to verify client identity using at least two approved identifiers and follow safety protocols.
Skill in preparing examination rooms, instruments, and supplies according to clinical standards.
Ability to recognize and promptly report abnormal clinical findings to providers.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain clinic flow.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including clear documentation in the EHR.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior experience working in a primary care clinic or similar outpatient setting.
Previous experience using eClinicalWorks EMR is preferred.
Experience assisting providers with examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
Familiarity with specimen collection, labeling, processing, and packaging for laboratory transport.
Experience scheduling appointments and coordinating follow-up care.
Ability to review and explain visit summaries and discharge instructions to clients as directed by providers.
Comfort sending and receiving clinical documents via fax and documenting related activities.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, timely documentation.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a medical office team.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in a primary care clinic environment. You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative medical office team, supporting providers and other clinical staff. The role involves frequent use of an Electronic Health Record system, including eClinicalWorks if implemented, as well as standard medical office equipment such as examination tables, diagnostic devices, and fax machines. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturday shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as needed. The clinic environment is fast-paced and client-focused, requiring consistent professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $41600.00/yr.
