Position Overview
The Medical Office Specialist plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional patient experience by ensuring administrative and clinical support functions run smoothly and efficiently. You'll serve as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and staff-helping the practice operate at its best.
Two openings available:
One role starting in the Back Office / Phone Room (high-volume calls, scheduling)
One role starting in the Front Office (patient check-in, chart prep, insurance verification)
? Both roles will be cross-trained to support each area as needed.
What You'll Do
Depending on assignment, your responsibilities may include:
Greet and support patients with check-in, check-out, and appointment scheduling
Answer and manage high-volume phone calls with professionalism and empathy
Verify insurance eligibility and assist with prior authorizations and referrals
Collect and record co-pays; balance daily transactions in the system
Maintain, retrieve, and update patient charts and medical records
Obtain and enter CPT and ICD-10 codes and other clinical documentation
Schedule surgical procedures and maintain accurate surgery calendars
Coordinate chart requests and communicate physician or equipment needs to the care team
Contribute to the organization's mission, vision, and values through teamwork and patient-focused care
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 6 months of recent healthcare industry experience
Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR)
eClinicalWorks strongly preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience with patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, or prior authorizations

Pay & Schedule
Pay: Competitive and based on experience (weekly pay)
18.00-21.00
Schedule: Monday-Friday, daytime hours
No weekends

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Overland Park, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $21.00/hr.
