Our client in Chicopee, MA, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk for a contract-to-permanent opportunity. This position offers the chance to contribute to a busy accounting team in the construction sector and grow your career. The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payables while maintaining vendor relationships and supporting monthly accounting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Enter and upload invoices into the construction accounting system (COINS)

Prepare and perform check runs

Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records

Reconcile accounts payable transactions

Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date

Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues

Maintain vendor files and correspond with vendors to respond to inquiries

Provide supporting documentation for audits

Maintain confidentiality of organizational information

Maintain accurate historical records

Coordinate cash control book and fund transfers

Reconcile vendor bank account statements monthly

Prepare monthly G/L expense reconciliation

Prepare weekly van allocation for service

Prepare monthly shop/tool and truck allocation

Prepare monthly sales tax report

Prepare monthly mileage report and car allowances

Reconcile vendor statements

Other duties as assigned

Requirements

1+ year of accounts payable or accounting experience preferred

Previous experience with COINS or similar construction accounting systems is a plus

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard accounting software

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
