Financial Officer
Tax Commission Career Opportunity

Summary:
The Financial Officer oversees the agency's Revenue Accounting team and all associated reporting, including the Comparative Report, and is responsible for coordinating and managing the agency's annual budgeting activities. This position reports to the General Services Division Administrator.
Job Responsibilities:
Hire, Train, and supervise employees performing financial services work.
Provide technical guidance and support to staff on matters with significant financial, legal or political consequences.
Coordinate functions with agency bureaus, divisions, and outside agencies.
Developing agencies annual budget.
Coordination with Financial Manager
Evaluate work processes for integration of information technology.
Monitors and assures security and confidentiality of records.
Ensure the agency is prepared for and participates fully in external audits, such as the LSO annual audit and the FY27 required audit of the Comparative report.
Maintain strong controls over financial reporting for revenue accounting, including maintaining a robust process documentation, proper journal entry documentation, and review and approval of external reporting.
Confirm all annual reporting requirements are met, including the PMR, appropriation and budget submissions.
Serve as Approver for assigned Luma actions / activities.
Preserve Operational Excellence process documentation for all Financial Services teams
Subject matter expert for industry-related research
Coordinate relevant training for staff
Maintain considerable knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations including procedures and policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of:
Accounting principles and practices (Typically gained by successful completion of college-level coursework in accounting such as a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; OR at least two years of professional work experience performing accounting or auditing duties).
Management practices (Typically gained by completion of upper-division college coursework in management or public administration; OR at least one year of experience supervising staff, leading teams, coordinating workflow, or participating in organizational planning and performance management activities.)
Experience:
Supervising others (Typically gained by at least one year of full-time experience providing work direction, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, completing evaluations, or participating in hiring and training decisions).
Auditing and interpreting computerized financial reports and data (Typically gained by at least one year of professional experience using financial or accounting software to review, analyze, reconcile, or audit financial transactions, reports, or datasets).
Auditing or designing and maintaining computerized financial reporting systems and subsystems (Typically gained by at least one year of professional experience reviewing system controls, testing or auditing financial system outputs, or participating in the design, implementation, or maintenance of automated accounting or financial reporting systems).
Auditing or establishing internal financial reporting controls (Typically gained by at least one year of professional experience developing, reviewing, testing, or implementing internal control procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial reporting).
Preparing financial management or audit reports (Typically gained by at least one year of professional experience compiling, analyzing, and summarizing financial data to produce management reports, audit findings, or similar formal financial documents).
Preparing and making oral presentations (Typically gained by at least one year of experience presenting financial, audit, or management information to groups such as supervisors, stakeholders, committees, or the public).
